Stories Are Telling

By Colleen Weems
Social Media Strategist, Brand Journalist, BKW

As passive consumers, we gobble up the pretty parts of social media – the curated shots, the perfect lighting, the ethereal colors and landscapes and incredible views of locales we may never get the chance to visit. It’s eye candy, but when our sweet tooth is satisfied, what satiates us?

Is It Influencer Marketing

...or is it just Alex?

By Emer Kelly
Customer Lead and Creative Strategist, BKW

My friend Alex comes around a couple times a month with a sweet new do. Ask him about it, and he can talk for upwards of 30 minutes. And crazily enough, he's fun to listen to. He and his salon have a wonderfully symbiotic relationship, but is he an influencer...or is he just Alex?

What We're Doing

Pawpods Equity Crowdfunding Campaign

We (Barak and Dave Zlutnick, the guy in the photo) recently got back from Detroit where we made a short video for our client RedCrow. RedCrow is an equity crowdfunding platform co-founded by Brian Smith of Morgan Stanley and Jerry Harrison of the Talking Heads. The video is for PawPods, a company that is just now being listed on RedCrow—where accredited investors can invest in increments as small as $1,000. Check it out (the video is there too). Big thanks to Aishlin Harrison for leading the project at RedCrow and to Elizabeth Dausch for editing.

What We're Reading

The Shelf Life of John Mackey in Texas Monthly

"I get an email a couple times a week from the NYT called "What We're Reading,"  in which 'New York Times reporters and editors are highlighting great stories from around the web.' When it lands in my inbox I open it with anticipation and dread.

Anticipation because I've read some amazing articles I would never have found on my own.  Dread because sometimes all the articles look good and I feel like I should read them, but I don't have time.
I don't get to everything, but this article caught my eye...and Texas Monthly is definitely not on my radar.

At first I skipped over it (Texas Monthly...probably not for me, I assumed), but when news of the Whole Foods sale to Amazon broke, I decided to read it.  It is a fascinating article that looks at the history of Whole Foods, and one of its founders, John Mackey, and also explains some of the dynamics that come with being a publicly traded company."
