Do You Have THIS Freedom?
This week we celebrate the greatest earthly freedom ever known--the freedom of religion, the freedom of speech and the press, the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in this greatest country in the world!
But sometimes, because we live in such a blessed nation with comforts and material possessions, we sometimes forget that there is another freedom that is offered to us that is far more important, far more eternal and necessary. . .and this offer is one I beg you not to ignore or put off. We all have sinned and fallen short of God's standard and therefore remain separated from God's holiness until we deal with our sin. But we cannot deal with it on our own. I don't know about you but I can't go an hour without a selfish thought or deed (sin). We need Jesus' perfect righteousness to intercede on our behalf. We need His substitutionary death on the cross to pay that penalty for our sin. We need to humble ourselves and admit our need for Him, ask Him for the redemption and forgiveness He offers, and accept that freedom He so lovingly wants to give to humble hearts. The freedom that our beloved country has (because of the brave men and women who fight for that freedom every day), although wonderful and never to be taken for granted, does nothing to free our souls from the stain and punishment of sin. Only a relationship with Jesus can do that!
"But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life." Romans 6:22
"That the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God." Romans 8:21
"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1
Can I hear an AMEN?!
"Messes Into Ministries"
We were blessed to be able to attend a Mercy Hand event in May where we distributed Bibles, worshipped in the streets of Dallas with singing and prayer, and heard amazing testimonies from people who have allowed their "messes" to be used by God as ministries to the community and in the lives of those in spiritual, physical, and emotional pain. God bless Bobby and the great group of people he works with as they serve people around Texas and Oklahoma!
High School Students. . . and a Bible!
Thanks to Geoff with Youth for Christ, 12 students at a high school in Fort Worth who did not have a Bible now have one from UBO! What formative years for these students to be reading about the one true God! Thanks Geoff!
Hard at Work
We are hard at work on 3rd Quarter needs and our requests for Large Print Bibles continues. Please know that when you make a donation, no matter how small, you are helping provide large print Bibles to people all over this community, and I can promise you that this is no small thing. . .to them or to God!
