Je suis ravie de partager avec vous ces événements à venir... La vie à New York est très riche, et m'offre des horizons sur de nouvelles collaborations et des occasions d'apprendre toujours plus.

Ce mercredi, je prendrai part au projet intitulé "Woven", dirigé par la violoniste carnatique (du Sud de l'Inde) Anjna Swaminathan, auprès de superbes musiciens improvisateurs. Le concert est programmé par le Brooklyn Raga Massive, un collectif de musiciens qui créent à partir et autour de la musique classique indienne et qui se retrouve chaque semaine autour d'un concert suivie d'une jam session. Et bien plus. Le concert aura lieu à 20h à the Owl Music Parlor in Brooklyn.

Violinist and theatre artist Anjna Swaminathan's debut ensemble project, WOVEN, brings together original music and poetry to meditate on ideas of death, memory and loss in Hindu vedantic philosophy. The ensemble features stellar string instrumentalists of various musical idioms ranging from jazz and creative music to klezmer, whose sounds are woven into a hybrid soundscape. Introspective, emotive and expansive, the score deconstructs the microtonal, rhythmic and improvisational vocabulary of Indian classical music and acts as a response to the cultural trauma, disillusionment, and wonder expressed in the poetry.

Plus tard cet été, le 2 août, je chanterai quelques chansons yiddish traditionnelles au YIVO Institute for Jewish Research lors du concert qui marquera la fin du programme d'été de yiddish.

The Uriel Weinreich Zumer Program Concert - A concert in celebration of the rich breadth of music with Yiddish lyrics including Yiddish Theater Songs, Yiddish Folk Songs, and Yiddish Art Songs. I will share the stage with Miryem-Khaye Seigel and Eliza Bagg and will be accompanied by Michael Winograd (clarinet) and Peter Stan (accordion).

Vous pouvez écouter le quatrième épisode de mon émission "Zing!" sur les chansons yiddish sur Radio Yiddish Pour Tous.

Cet épisode présente des chansons yiddish enfantines, à l'occasion de l'exposition "Yidishe Kinder" qui se tient au YIVO (à NY) jusqu'en septembre, et pour laquelle j'ai préparé une sélection d'enregistrements des Archives sonores avec Lorin Sklamberg.

Je suis ravie de diriger à nouveau le programme pour enfants de la semaine "Trip to Yiddishland" organisée par le Workmen's Circle (Aug 14-21)!
