Addiction Worker Training Project - Lottery Award Nomination

Scottish Drugs Forum's Addiction Worker Training Project (AWTP) has been nominated for a National Lottery Award!

Our SVQ Centre is integral to the AWTP, supporting participants to achieve Scottish Vocational Qualifications in a range of subjects.

Scam Awareness Month

This month was Scam Awareness Month and the Tackling Fraud Together team have been sharing their tips on how to avoid different types of fraud!

Take a look at advice and help from other organisations got up to through #scamaware on Twitter, and remember if you would like the team to give a talk/presentation or host an information stall at an event, email fraudawareness@gcvs.org.uk.

Forum for Criminal & Community Justice Services
 
If you are interested in being part of a Glasgow-wide third sector forum looking at criminal and community justice services, please get in touch. 

Glasgow's Third Sector Forum will be having a meeting jointly with the national Criminal Justice Voluntary Sector Forum on the 22nd of August at The Albany Centre to look at how we strengthen engagement between the third sector and statutory services.

Training Workshop – Supporting Survivors of Childhood Abuse/Trauma

Wellbeing Scotland (formerly Open Secret) are running a workshop aimed at supporting professionals who would like to gain a greater understanding of the impact of childhood abuse/trauma and best practice in supporting disclosures.

The workshop takes place on Friday the 22nd of September, costing £80 for voluntary organisations and £100 for statutory organisations.

New Housing In Firhill

Tenants from Queens Cross Housing Association (QCHA) have moved into new housing in Firhill - on Garscube Road and Leny Street.

Properties in the £9m development are fully insulated and solar panels have also been fitted to help reduce costs.
QCHA plans to create 600 more homes over the next three years as part of their recently-launched business plan.

MECOPP Carers Centre - The 3 R's Project

Minority Ethnic Carers Of People Project (MECOPP) are running a new project, aiming to assist individuals with social care support needs.

The project will also deliver a three-year capacity building programme, to third sector organisations providing support to individuals who are entitled to self-directed support.
 
To Absent Friends Festival - Small Grants Schemes

Good Life, Good Death, Good Grief have made two Small Grants available to help organisations take part in To Absent Friends - a people’s festival of storytelling and remembrance. 

The festival takes place across Scotland from the 1st-7th of November. The closing date to apply for the grants is the 23rd of August.
