Sketching Halifax: Project 150

Happy Canada Day! To celebrate Canada's 150th birthday this summer, the Nova Scotia Association of Architects (NSAA) and the Halifax Urban Sketchers are partnering on Sketching Halifax: Project 150!

The NSAA and Halifax Urban Sketchers are encouraging their members to plein air paint/sketch the locations listed here and then submit their finished work(s) for display during Architecture Week 2017 (October 1st - 8th). The NSAA downstairs seminar room will be transformed into an art gallery in which finished work will be displayed and available for purchase.

Participants can choose to attend one of the grouped sketch sessions on the attached schedule above or may visit the locations individually at any time. The next grouped session will be held on July 2nd and will continue every weekend until the end of August at over 40 locations around Halifax! Be sure to check here for updates or changes.

Please note:
  • In the spirit of urban-sketching, participants are encouraged to complete the majority of the works on-site at the locations;
  • Grouped-sketching will be held rain or shine;
  • Submissions may be dropped off at the NSAA office between July 13th and August 31st;
  • Participants may attend as many grouped sessions as they wish;
  • Any level of detail on the sketches is welcome (i.e. primary sketches, fine details, full colour, etc.); and
  • Further details and official registration form will be circulated soon.
Please review the locations list and join us this summer for sketching in Halifax!
