It has been a busy week!

We just catered food and wine to over 100 people for a retirement party...then we hosted the Touch for Teal event hosted by Odlum Brown in the store - which was an amazing event surrounding the astounding affect of Ovarian Cancer in woman in Canada.

We also hosted with Chef Drew Still a four-course meal paired with wine at a personal home...

Had an amazing Riedel event - we are going to be hosting another event like this...it was such a wonderful event that everyone needs to take advantage of...

Then last night, we had Ladies Night and it was so fun!
Terri Brooks and her team from Glamour Secrets did it up right with everyone receiving foot massages, manicures and henna.
Chef Drew prepared smoked salmon crostini garnished with fresh cucumber, vegetarian flatbread and chicken wontons along with our amazing boards of charcuterie.
Everyone went home with a goodie bag of a stemless Riedel glass valued at $15 and $5 in Glam bucks.

Make sure you don't miss out on the next Ladies Night!

This weekend, we are celebrating one of the oldest wineries who have never poured in store will be coming from 3-6pm today, Gehringer Brothers.
This winery really brought wine to BC. You see, Walter Gehringer studied at Geiseneheim University in Germany. He convinced his Professor and mentor, Professor Becker in 1976 to bring the finest clones of Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Ehrenfelser to the Okanagan Valley and plant these varietals.

We now have the finest clones and varietals of these in the Valley and you will get to taste these old vine clones this afternoon.

Saturday, we showcase Canada's winnings in the Decanter World Wine Awards...starting with a 95 point and only GOLD with a Library Vintage of Cipes Blanc de Blanc. We will then go on to taste 2 more whites, a rose and a stunning red that all won high awards at this tough international competition.

Why? Because we are Canadian and we make great wine.

Proud to be Canadian,

Cheers,
Kim

Clos du Soleil 2013 Signature $46.85+taxes
BEST SELLER ~ CLUB SPW FAVOURITE

Signature is Clos du Soleil’s flagship Bordeaux-style blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, produced by hand and aged for 17 months in French oak barrels. The 2013 vintage, the product of a year of ideal growing conditions, is a standout example of this iconic wine. The taster is immediately enveloped in the dense and layered perfumes of this wine, with notes of cedar, fresh blackberry and cassis, and a hint of cracked black pepper. On the palate the wine bursts with ripe fruit flavours – blackberry, raspberry and red currant – expressed through an elegant, mouth-filling structure and soft, round tannins. Enjoyable in its youth, the fine tannins and beautiful balance of this wine will ensure its ability to age for well over a decade.
Winemaking Notes
Our winemaking philosophy is to treat our grapes gently and with respect, in order to produce a complex, ageworthy wine that showcases the very best expression of the terroir of the Similkameen Valley. Each variety and each vineyard block was harvested separately, when judged to be at optimal maturity, gently destemmed and crushed, and then fermented, following a moderate cold-soak. More than half of the lots used only spontaneous, native fermentations, to reinforce terroir expression. After a gentle pressing, the wines were barrel aged for 17 months in 100% French oak barrels. Only those barrels showing the greatest complexity, depth, and ageability were selected for our Signature blend. In order to protect the nuances and beauty of this wine, it was neither filtered nor fined. Simplicity and a light hand in the winery have allowed us to deliver a wine which speaks of the beauty of our land.
