New Executive Director and Board Members
We'd like to welcome Victoria Otero, our new Executive Director for Villa Therese Catholic Clinic! Victoria is a native of New Mexico having grown up in Los Lunas. She is a recent graduate of the Masters in Health Administration program from the School of Public Administration at the University Of New Mexico. She earned a BBA at UNM's Anderson School of Management with a focus on Human Resource Management.
While pursuing her Master’s degree, Victoria served on the Student Association of Healthcare Administrators board with the School of Public Administration, as well as worked in the graduate student government office. She is a member of the New Mexico Healthcare Executives. Victoria has extensive experience in the field of human resources in healthcare. She hopes to utilize her personal and professional experiences to further the mission of Villa Therese Catholic Clinic: serving the underserved with quality health care in a responsible manner.
Victoria is the mother of two children, Serena, 22, and Phillip, 17. In her free time, she enjoys reading, movies, fitness, travel and spending time with family.
The Board of Directors would like to thank Mary Chavez, J. Roman Gallegos and Jennifer Baird for serving on the Board. We appreciate the unique talents each of them contributed. Three new members have been elected to the Board: Fr. Larry Brito, Jill Cook and Dr. Aamna Nayyar.
Fr. Brito is the pastor of St. Anne's Parish.
Jill Cook, Manager of Human Resources and Operational Effectiveness at Homewise, Inc, a Santa Fe non profit, has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. "I've had the good fortune to be associated with Villa Therese," Ms. Cook said, "through the annual Calcutta event for the last 10 years. I've been very impressed with the services the clinic provides to the community. I'm very excited to be able to contribute in a more significant way to the success of the organization."
Aamna Nayyar, DDS is the Director of the Dental Program at Santa Fe Community College. "I am grateful for the opportunity to expand on my community service," Dr. Nayyar said, "to benefit my fellow human beings, animals and the surrounding environment as mandated by my faith."
We'd also like to thank everyone who helped with the Volunteer Appreciation Reception last spring. Jamie Posch welcomed everyone to his beautiful home for light hors d'oeuvres, dessert and wine. Thank you to Mary Chavez and volunteers Jamie Posch, Geramy Quarto, Doris Hernandez, Mark Johnson and Michael Trujillo for hosting such a lovely afternoon honoring our wonderful volunteers!
Finally, the Board is happy to report that the clinic has received a generous grant of $120,000 from CHRISTUS HEALTH, the parent company of CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center. This grant is the largest single-year grant VTCC has received in the past decade. The grant will continue and expand our existing dental program providing dental care for the uninsured and underserved in our community.
