"Baroque Sonatas"
Mitchell Conservatorium is proud to present a night of Baroque Sonatas featuring the works of the greatest architect of sound J.S Bach.
These three tightly woven performances are taking place at Lithgow on Friday 21st July 7:00 PM in the MitCon building on Wylde Street, in Bathurst in the MitCon Orchard Room on Saturday 22nd July 7:00 PM and in Canowindra at All Saints Church on Sunday 23rd July 3:00 PM.
Featuring four accomplished performers in flute, harpsichord and cello, this will be an evening of wonderful, rich sound and classical emotion. Certainly don't miss the opportunity to see these works of Bach performed with a harpsichord, as Tracey Callinan plays a Flemish double Zukerman harpsichord built by her father.
The performance includes:
Sonata No. 2 in D Major, BWV 1028 (originally for viola da gamba)
Adagio, Allegro, Andante, Allegro
Sonata No 1 in G major , BWV 1027 (originally for 2 flutes )
Adagio, Andante, Allegro ma non tanto, Allegro moderato
The Italian Concerto, BWV 971,
Allegro, Andante, Presto
Bach was known for his extraordinary fluency in musical invention and control, and his flair for improvisation at the keyboard was highly regarded. This will be a performance of some of his most classic works, and enjoying the dense and rich harmonies will be something to remember, with the addition of the beautiful sound of the harpsichord.
Bach's legendary sound paintings will come to life in these concerts, the daunting complexity of his music is something not to be missed.
