Newsletter June 2017
Hello Wandsworth Food Partnership members and welcome to your first e-newsletter!

We've reconvened the Partnership and at our last meeting in June we agreed for a core group to meet at least 4 times a year, with break out committees dealing with specific issues in between. All are welcome to attend these meetings. If you'd like a copy of the minutes just let us know.

For the next couple of years Be Enriched has agreed to facilitate the Partnership with back end support, but all members are encouraged to get involved.

Pleased to announce that at the last Sustainable cities conference Wandsworth was named as the newest member. You can read more about that here.

Celebrating 10 years of Tooting Foodival on the streets of Tooting
Saturday September 16th 11-5pm

The award winning Tooting Foodival organised by Transition Town Tooting will be celebrating its 10 year anniversary this September and the organisers are promising an event not to be missed. Expect to see and taste a wonderful array of locally grown produce and delicious dishes to excite your taste buds, plus there will be a selection of boutique market stalls and live entertainment to keep everyone happy. Kicking off from 11.00am at Mushkil Aasaan on Upper Tooting Road and part of Hereward Road, we expect a bumper turn out for Foodival 2017.

In 2015 Tooting Foodival was awarded The Sunshine award by the Major of Wandsworth in recognition of how it has brought sunshine into the lives of others through community growing, eating and celebration. The event highlights the diversity of produce that can be grown, cooked and enjoyed in the Tooting locality.

Open mic, cultural food tours around Tooting, live cookery demos, photo booth, kids entertainment, special guest speakers and stands promoting locally made cider, chutney, cakes, honey and much more to be enjoyed by you.

Another great success for School Food Matters!

St Mary's RC Primary school in Battersea have received much needed funding thanks to School Garden Grants. Funded by Whole Kids Foundation, the grant will be used to build raised beds and a wildlife area after their garden was destroyed during building works.

60 children from Sacred Heart RC Primary and St Mary's RC Primary will be enjoying a wonderful education-filled day at Rushall Farm in the next few weeks thanks to Santander Discovery Grants.

Discover MORE about the Source of the Wandle!

The Wandle Trust will be hosting an exhibition as part of Living Wandle project Discovering the Source.

It explores and celebrates the unique landscape of the Wandle by telling the story of the river's source and how it has changed over time under human influence. From ice-age mammoths to Anne Boleyn and all that's in between, this exhibition is not to be missed!
Wandworth Food Partnership's purpose is to share, collaborate and create a stronger and healthier food system in Wandsworth. Our key focus are: working together, reducing food waste, sustainability, cultural aspects of food, healthy eating and physical activity.
