Our SALKEHATCHIE TEAM departs early Saturday, July 8 for their big week of construction work in rural SC. This Sunday, July 2, we'll dedicate, bless, and send them covered in our prayers. Our Salkehatchie team will work hard to upgrade dilapidated and substandard housing through a cooperative effort that includes the residents helping to “help themselves.” Donations are still being accepted for the “Biltmore house” that our team will work on while there. Thank you for considering a cash or check donation. Please note it on your check memo line as, “Salkehatchie.”
This year's team: Alison Gaddy, Brett Strimple, Dale Williams, David Gaddy, Garrett Williams, John Strimple, Linda Kuder, and Shelby Williams.
The church office will be closed Tuesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.
We have a new cross on our steeple!
Drive by any evening (about 8:50pm or later) to see it shine bright for all to see.
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden." Matthew 5:14
THURSDAY SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM
The Summer Lunch Program located at Glory Tabernacle is going well! We continue to serve ONE day per week on Thursdays from 12:15-1:30pm through week of Aug. 17. Please use the link below to sign up or see the sign up sheets at church. We need at least 2 people to volunteer each Thursday, and one must have completed the online site supervisor training.
If you are willing to complete this easy online training, please email Priscilla Nutt at nuttpriscilla@gmail.com for the link. Please see Priscilla or Paula Youngblood if you have any questions. Thank you for participating! This experience will bless both you and the children we serve! Participating in the summer lunch program is part our C4C (Congregations for Children) initiatives and we are thankful for the many hands and feet that make this possible.

The lyrics to a recent Sunday’s special music give us insights into how our interactions with each other can have tremendous impact. Consider the words by Ken Medema in SOMETHING ABOUT YOU, and make time to be with each other:
Day after day, I’ve been looking at you, watchin’ you closely to see what you do; walking’ behind you to see how you walk, hanging’ around you to see how you talk. You never knew I was watchin’ you so; what makes me do it I never will know. You’re like a magnet, you draw me to you. I try to get away there’s nothing else I can do. There’s Something about You.
You always have time for people who hurt, you never treat anyone as if s/he were dirt; when everything’s rotten you never give in. I try to analyze, I don’t know where to begin. When you are beaten, you never fight back. When I need understanding, you never lack. You’re not afraid to cry when I cry; I’ve seen you more than once with a tear in your eye. There’s Something about You.
You are like a book that I’ve been reading all these years. There may be some misprinting, but the message is quite clear. I don’t know why I follow you, I don’t know why I care--unless I see a strength in you I wish that I could share. I’ve been around you enough now to know, if I were to ask you, “What makes you go? What makes you do these things that you do?” You talk about Jesus and His spirit in you. Now, I’m not religious and that’s not my cause. Lookin’ at you, though, has given me pause. Please try to tell me, try to explain. I think I’d like to hear it again and again--because There’s Something about You. About you.

PASTORAL CARE NEEDS
Unfortunately, life just keeps delivering blows to us. While Pastor Sonny is on Sabbatical, Anita Sayles is handling pastoral care needs for those of us facing surgery, grieving death, coping with news we didn’t want, or feeling overwhelmed by the continuous loads of daily living. Please let Cassie or Anita know if you would like a visit or a call. We are all on this journey together, so let’s be sure we travel it together. (Anita can also perform weddings, blessings, or dedications, too!)
NEED PRAYER?
Please send all prayer requests to Barb Korb at barbarakorb@yahoo.com.
We are here to pray for you!
BILTMOREUMC'S PRAYER TEAM assembles every Tuesday at noon to pray for the needs of our church and our community. We meet in the Prayer Room upstairs (right beside the elevator on Level 3), and we end by 12:30pm.
NOTE: While praying this week, remember to lift up Pastor Sonny and Sharon, as well as, all our volunteers and staff who are taking on extra duties. Thanks to Rev. Patrick for preaching each Sunday.
SUMMER ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN & PARENTS
A complete schedule of movies and crafts for children and families is listed in the link below. July's events are also available in a small handout in our church lobbies. Please share other ideas with us, and we will include them on the list.

YOU CAN HELP MOW IT OVER!
There are three more times to help Ginna and Mark Reid this summer by mowing their lawn. Please sign up or call Cassie to sign up for a week. If you have a lawnmower you no longer need, please let Cassie know so we can have a permanent lawnmower there. A temporary one is available at their home, and you can sign up to mow their lawn (and put gas in the tank, if it is needed): 140 Chatham Rd, Asheville NC 28804; (828)776-6034.

RESUSITATION EFFORTS UNDERWAY FOR SART
SART, Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre, has been a summer mainstay for over 40 years in the Asheville area. A fundraising performance about Woodie Guthrie is being offered on Thursday-Sunday, July 27-30 at Mars Hill University. The tickets are free so all donations can go directly to SART to save it from extinction. A Go-Fund Me link is on their website (https://www.sartplays.com/) so you can make your donation when you reserve your tickets. Anita will be going and would be glad to make this a Movies and More event; just let Anita know you are interested in going as a group. Both Chuck and Anita (and Anita’s daughter, Amanda) have been wholeheartedly involved in this theatre for years; it is a regional treasure. Hopefully, many of us can attend, make a donation, and make a difference locally for this amazing ministry. If you have questions, ask Anita; to go to the website (https://www.sartplays.com/) and read more.
OUTREACH TEAM is responsible for "Fun & Fellowship" this Sunday in the Events Center. We are grateful for all you do to make our Sunday mornings more fun!
Deadline for e-news: Please note the deadline for information to be received and included in the weekly e-news is every Thursday by 10am. Send info to: officemrg@biltmoreumc.org.
