Free rose pruning workshops

Free rose pruning workshops will be held at Fawkner Memorial Park, Altona Memorial Park and Lilydale Memorial park on Sunday 9 July 2017. GMCT’s outdoor senior supervisors will lead up-close, hands-on demonstrations of how best to care for your roses before spring sets in.

This is your chance to learn rose pruning tips from the experts! GMCT cemeteries are home to over 20,000 individual rose bushes - our horticulture staff are kept busy pruning in the winter months to ensure we have radiant spring blooms.

Mapping for the community

What does it take to map an area as complex and historically rich as a cemetery? Read about how GMCT mapping specialists Karina Vitiritti and Tina Bell are working with innovative new technologies to make it easier for our cemetery visitors to find the resting places of their loved ones.

History in colour

The recent Williamstown fountain christening was celebrated with a family event for all ages, with the aim of engaging young and old in the history and heritage of our cemeteries. A colouring competition was held in conjunction with the unveiling of the restored fountain and one lucky Newport resident has taken home a prize for her efforts.

GMCT cemetery grounds are open to visitors every day of the year.

Each of our staffed receptions at Templestowe Cemetery, Preston Cemetery, Fawkner Memorial Park, Lilydale Memorial Park, Altona Memorial Park and Andersons Creek Cemetery have specific opening hours.
