Interbeing Sangha
of Kingston

Weekly Meeting

Our next weekly gathering takes place Sunday, July 23rd, for meditation and dharma sharing, 6:30pm at Unitarian Place (Kingston Unitarian Fellowship), 206 Concession Street. Ann Coward will be bell minding.
Miracles Everywhere

"Around us, life bursts with miracles--a glass of water, a ray of sunshine, a leaf, a caterpillar, a flower, laughter, raindrops. If you live in awareness, it is easy to see miracles everywhere. Each human being is a multiplicity of miracles. Eyes that see thousands of colors, shapes, and forms; ears that hear a bee flying or a thunderclap; a brain that ponders a speck of dust as easily as the entire cosmos; a heart that beats in rhythm with the heartbeat of all beings. When we are tired and feel discouraged by life's daily struggles, we may not notice these miracles, but they are always there.”

--Thich Nhat Hanh, from Thich Nhat Hanh: Essential Writings, 2001

New Arrival

Sangha in a Box Kit

Wonderful news! The foundation of our new sangha library, and new friends for our community of practice have arrived! Thank you to the Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation for this wonderful gift, and Mousqa from the office at Deer Park Monastery in California who lovingly sent the kit. Our Sangha Librarian, Anne Graham is organizing a system for members to check out the books, and the media files will be available on USB.

Next Week

Sangha Care Meeting

Sunday, July 30th, at 5:30, one hour prior to our regular weekly meeting, we will have a Sangha Care Meeting. The agenda will include plans for our upcoming Day of Mindfulness, reports on our library, resources, and outreach, and a proposal to host the monastics of Blue Cliff Monastery for a 3-day regional retreat in May 2019, in cooperation with Ottawa Pagoda Sangha. Please plan to join us for the meeting.

Compassionate Action

"Words and thoughts concerning compassionate action that are not put into practice are like beautiful flowers that are colorful but have no fragrance. The practice of mindfulness is already the action of peace. The practice of mindfulness has the power to transform us and to affect the whole world. We have to practice the cultivation of peace individually and in our relationships."

--Thich Nhat Hanh, from Creating True Peace: Ending Violence in Yourself, Your Family, Your Community, and the World, 2004.

August 27th

Day of Mindfulness

Sunday, August 27th, Interbeing Sangha is planning an outdoor Summer Day of Mindfulness including walking meditation, eating mindfully together, and a session of Mindful Movement. The location will be in the country, at historic Bonniespring Farm on Middle Road, with car pool from KUF for those who need it. Details will be confirmed at our upcoming Sangha Care Meeting.
Our sangha has two teams helping to share leadership and facilitation of our meetings. Our Bell Minders Team are mindful facilitators for our weekly gatherings, as well as retreats, taking beautiful care of our friends in the practice including the bell. Our Sangha Care Team facilitates sangha care meetings, plans retreats, minds our library and resources, and coordinates outreach. If you are interested in helping with either or both, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com for more information.
