Mental space and depression: new videos now online

There are a three new video’s available on the subject of Mental Space and Depression. These video’s are recommended for people who are interested in a non-medical treatment of depression, and are looking for a different approach of this problem.

Andrew Austin, a renowned psychotherapist in Great Britain, demonstrates his change work in the video  Metaphors of depression. Andrew focuses on the spatial metaphors that depressed clients use for their unsuccessful coping strategies with serious life issues. He demonstrates that, based on their metaphors, what clients do will never work out successfully, as long as they stick to their old coping method. The solution is: they need to change their metaphor.

Wassili Zafiris, a Dutch psychological therapist and NLP trainer,  recently wrote a Dutch book called ‘Geluk is deprimerend ‘about depression and mental space. This book is available in our web shop . In the video Just Happily Depressed Wassili speaks about the depressed inner landscape, and sees how this is caused by the client’s striving for happiness, regardless of what difficulties they experience in their lives. Clients need to face the darkness to deal with their life issues.

Lucas Derks PhD, social psychologist and NLP trainer, sees most depressions as dark objects, like clouds, which clients have unconsciously constructed in their mental space as a result of repressing an issue they find hard to cope with. In the video Where has my depression gone? Lucas declares that depression is not a process, but an ‘object’ that blocks the clients’ free awareness, which can be removed by dealing

Book Review (in Dutch)
