National Go Center is Open!

On April 28th, the National GO Center had their grand opening! DIAG Studios assisted the National Go Center in designing and permitting their new space at 4652 Wisconsin Ave NW in Washington, DC. DIAG Studios was happy to join in on the festivities on behalf of the design team, which also included MEP engineer, Potomac Energy Group. During construction, the Center's executive director, Gurujeet Khalsa, describes the progress of the center this way: “Area go clubs and volunteers have come together with sponsorship from the Iwamoto North America Foundation to make the new Center a reality,” Khalsa told the E-Journal during a tour of the Center on March 12th. The National Go Center's mission is to develop strong amateur go players in the Washington, DC region who can represent the US in conjunction with the American Go Association at the regional, national, and international levels. What is go? According to the National Go Center website: "Go is the hardest, deepest, best game humans play. Its rules are incredibly simple, but the strategy and tactics that emerge from them are vast and profound. Many players around the world spend lifetimes trying to improve their play. There are highly competitive organizations of professional players in many countries in Asia, and emerging professional players in the United States and Europe." Intrigued? Stop by the new Center to learn how to play!

DIAG Studios welcomes Adrian Gaudia this summer!

Adrian is from Okinawa, Japan and has recently finished his 4th year off-campus program at the Washington Alexandria Architecture Center (WAAC).  He will return after the summer to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to finish his 5th year and earn his Bachelors of Architecture.  He is using this opportunity at DIAG Studios to gain hands-on experience and a professional knowledge in the field. Adrian plans to join an architecture firm after graduation while working to pursue licensure.  In his spare time you can find Adrian engrossed in a fiction novel, in the kitchen trying new recipes, or at a restaurant with some kind of dessert in his hands.
