ALPFA Success Story:
Daniel Kapellmann Zafra
I studied my master's in Information Management at the University of Washington and, coming from Mexico, I found ALPFA as an interesting option for gaining support for my job search. Although I was not able to participate much in events, I kept in touch with the organization, received resume support and eventually met Tony and Frank, who were very supportive during my job search in the end.

ALPFA Seattle gave me tips on how to proceed with the search, how to enhance my profile and assisted me in getting in touch with some additional people to apply in some big companies around the Seattle area. Even though I got another job outside of the area the job searching tips and support was quite valuable to get here.
ALPFA’s support was quite beneficial, mostly considering that as a Fulbright student, I had to get a job one month before graduating. When I realized about this I had a very short span of time to find a job and it was quite an intensive process where the support of the ALPFA team was quite valuable for achieving these final results.

Being a member of ALPFA has been very valuable and helped me get a job. People from the organization are very nice and willing to help, I got tips, support for enhancing my profile and even got directly in touch with some recruiters. Furthermore, one thing I learned while being in the US is that here what matters the most during a job search is networking and having contacts. Thousands of people can apply online to jobs, but in the end the ones getting to the interview process are those that are able to combine a strong professional profile with a proactive attitude that allows them to meet people from the companies they prefer. Also, I would suggest being open to alternatives, in my case working in IT Planning & Architecture at Puget Sound Energy opened the door for my dream job in cybersecurity, without suspecting it beforehand.
