new meal pattern rules.
Recent news about grain-based desserts

Sweet crackers are now allowed to count as a creditable grain component in the new CACFP Meal Patterns. Examples include all shapes of graham crackers and animal crackers. USDA released information about this change on June 30, 2017. You can access the full USDA memo here.

Remember!! USDA encourages sweet crackers only be served on a limited basis because of their higher sugar content.

The CACFP sweetened grain-based dessert handout is updated and available on the CACFP website.
Documentation requirements update!

We will release information in the future about how you must demonstrate that meals and snacks meet the meal pattern requirements. We will ensure these requirements are easy to follow while meeting the regulations. Stay tuned!

You can view the latest USDA memo about meal pattern documentation here.
