HEY THERE! STELLA, BABY!
- Stanley kowalski
Stanley Kowalski – the man at the centre of Tennessee Williams’ masterpiece A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE – is one of the 20th century’s most challenging and disturbing characters. Brooding, macho and all-American, Stella’s red-blooded husband is a thorn in Blanche’s side. Premiered by Marlon Brando himself, let us introduce you to our Stanley…
Kiwi actor Ryan O’Kane will be taking on this juicy and formidable role. Raised in NZ’s own deep South, O’Kane’s successful career has recently seen him starring in Home and Away, and NZ dramas Tangiwai and Rage.
O’Kane joins a strong female line-up including Mia Blake (Angels in America, No.2), Morgana O’Reilly (Neighbors, Housebound, Amadeus) and Toni Potter (Shortland Street, Sunday Roast) with more to be announced.
“Stanley’s turbulent character demands an actor who can swing from the extremes of desire to savagery and back again. O’Kane brings a rough and tumble sexuality, an inventive playfulness and depth of character that completely obliterates all memory of Marlon Brando. He totally rocks the Alpha Male A-Game” – Shane Bosher
Seventy years after its Broadway premiere, A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE continues to stun audiences with its violent portrayal of femininity, masculinity and sexuality.
It’s a sultry, hot summer and tension is rising…
