I know it is the middle of the Summer and going through training is the last thing on your mind. Before you know it, though, it will be Fall and your Pack or Troop will need you to have updated training so that your boys can have more fun Scouting.
Each Pack campout requires a BALOO trained leader and each Troop campout requires an IOLS trained leader. Can you be the trained hero that let’s your boys go to a campout?
Training is often available at Summer camp — if you are going please sign up for all the training possible!
Please also mark your unit calendars today for these upcoming Training opportunities that your District is organizing for this Fall:
YOUTH PROTECTION: Our program for our District Roundtable on Tuesday, October 10, 6:30pm at the LDS church at 1015 15th Ave South will be a group Youth Protection Class. Every registered adult in every unit needs to take youth protection every year. Make it easy and come to our class on October 10!
BALOO and IOLS: We will offer BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) and IOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills) as a combined class/campout behind the Scout office during JOTA from Friday evening, October 20 to Saturday morning, October 21. Participants will receive their certification in both trainings.
Position Specific Training (Scouting University): Individualized trainings for positions (Den Leader, Cubmaster, Committee and Scoutmaster) will be offered at our District Scouting University on Saturday, November 18.
Please mark your calendars for these training opportunities. If you are trained and you are available to help teach some of these classes, please drop me a note at aaron@weissman.com or call me at 868-8982.
Thanks for all you do for the youth in Scouting!
