Hello!
June was National Gardening Month.
People were planting.
Seeds were sprouting.
Weeds are now withering and flowers are blooming.
At least that’s what’s supposed to be happening.
But this year I couldn’t even be bothered with seeds so June was ‘Buy your own half grown tomato plant at the garden store and put it in a pot on your own patio’ month.
Gardening is an easy metaphor for what we do at Hello in the summer because we don’t believe in a "cold sale." Rather, we prefer to cultivate relationships with administrators and districts over time. It gives us a chance to share and give and grow together. Sometimes it starts out a bit suddenly -- there is no one to hire so we’re quick to be called in -- but once a part of the Hello family, we sit in our respective pots on the deck, sharing the sun and the water while planning for a healthy and bountiful fall.
My personal top 3 gardening tips to share include:
- Start early if you're going to start from seeds
- Consider containers if you have no room for a large sized bed
- Share the bounty. Unfortunately, much of what I share is with the squirrels. Who would have guessed they love berries and tomatoes so much!?
As we approach mid-July, I hope your garden is growing well, both professionally and personally.
- Sharon
