Seniors & Juniors Combined Newsletter

Forest Rugby Seniors

Saturday 15th July
Round 11- Forest vs Hunters Hill
Boronia Park, Park & Ryde Rds Hunters Hill

4th Grade 10.45am
3rd Grade 11.40am
Colts 12.45pm
2nd Grade 2.00pm
1st Grade 3.15pm

Results from last weekend Round 10

1st Grade: Forest 40 defeated Lindfield 12
2nd Grade: Forest 3 defeated Lindfield 0
Colts: Forest 22 lost to Lindfield 39
3rd Grade: Forest 0 lost to Lindfield 43
4th Grade: Forest 13 defeated Lindfield 7

1st Grade returned to the winners list with a commanding performance crossing for 6 tries. Hooker turned tight head prop Donovan Bassett bagging 2 tries was player of the match closely followed by No.8 Hamilton Blakeman and Tommy Ryan in the midfield.
It shows what the right attitude and plenty of intensity will do!

2nd Grade toughed out a 3-0 win against the competition leaders, after having tries disallowed through some dubious home touch judge decisions.

4th Grade battled hard missing several regulars to remain undefeated and then most players backed up to play 3’s, with plenty missing this week.

Colts came up against the undefeated competition leaders and rallied in the 2nd half outscoring their opponents to show what needs to be done if we are to beat them come finals time.

Forest Rugby Juniors

Our Junior and Mini Teams are on school holidays so no games this weekend.  Back into it next week everyone!

Tour Game vs Trident High School from Whakatane, New Zealand

Forest Rugby were very pleased to be hosting the players and tour group from Trident High School New Zealand last Sunday.  At Forest we always value the opportunity to play against touring teams, which provides a great experience for our players, to come up against teams from other countries and regions.

Sunday was no exception and well done to Alistair Duncan and the U15’s who backed up from an eventful Trivia Night Fundraiser the night before to take on the tourists.  Our U15’s faced the “Haka” for the first time and played a very free flowing game with plenty of running rugby, lots of tries, some good defence, (and some not so good defence) entertaining the large crowd who turned out.

After match speeches, presentations and plenty of good food were a feature of the afternoon, enjoyed by everyone.

Well done by our U15’s!

Forest Girls 7s

The girls are now on a break for holidays but will return to the paddock on July 22nd.

Forest Rugby Charity Day 5th August 2017

Forest Rugby working with the community to make a difference!

Forest Rugby Club is proud and excited to announce its 2017 charity partners – The Manly Community Centre (MCC) and Bushlink – a part of Northside Enterprise Inc. Charity Day will be celebrated on 5 August 2017 at our home game at Melwood Oval against University of NSW.

In addition to JAC Electrical, as the charity day gold sponsor, and Packsize Pty Ltd, as the charity day silver sponsor, we hope everyone in the Forest Rugby community will join us to help raise funds and awareness for some very worthy causes.

Whilst no doubt Rugby is a key focus of the Club, the Committee is passionate about its role and responsibility to contribute more broadly to our community and society in general. As such, we have partnered with the MCC to make a difference in two very important areas of domestic violence and homelessness. Funds raised will go directly to supporting these specific areas of MCC’s strategic focus within our local community.

Bushlink, is dedicated to creating real and valued employment for people with disability. We are privileged to partner with such an amazing organisation and help to directly improve life outcomes for people with disability in our community.
