Interbeing Sangha
of Kingston

Weekly Meeting

Our next weekly gathering takes place Sunday, July 16th, for meditation and dharma sharing, 6:30pm at Unitarian Place (Kingston Unitarian Fellowship), 206 Concession Street. Susan Young will be bell minding.
Developing Peace

"Although attempting to bring about world peace through the internal transformation of individuals is difficult, it is the only way. Wherever I go, I express this, and I am encouraged that people from many different walks of life receive it well. Peace must first be developed within an individual. And I believe that love, compassion, and altruism are the fundamental basis for peace. Once these qualities are developed within an individual, he or she is then able to create an atmosphere of peace and harmony. This atmosphere can be expanded and extended from the individual to his family, from the family to the community and eventually to the whole world.”

Today

Mindful Resistance Webinar

Interbeing Sangha of Kingston presents a live screening of Mindful Resistance: Rescue the Planet (AND Ourselves) at Unitarian Place, 206 Concession Street, Thursday, July 13th, 2017 at 2:00pm. Two dedicated environmental advocates, both meditation teachers in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, will lead this live webinar and discuss how to apply the principles of Engaged Buddhism in caring for the environment. Part of the Mindful Resistance Series by Parallax Press.

Young Adults

Wake Up

Wake Up an active global community of young mindfulness practitioners inspired by the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh. Young people between 18-35 come together to nourish happiness and build a more compassionate society. Anyone can get together and form a Wake Up group, and many sanghas include a group for their young adults. If you are a young person inspired to cultivate mindfulness and compassion in your life, you are invited to join the Wake Up movement.

Mindfulness for Youth

Wake Up Schools

Many schools have incorporated the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh for children into their curriculum. Happy Teachers Change the World offers practical guidance for cultivating mindfulness in education through the Plum Village tradition. Wake Up Schools provides training, resources, and community building, with a flexible, holistic and non-religious approach and a focus on support for teachers. Watch a video from Wake Up Schools to learn more.

Coming Soon

Day of Mindfulness

Sunday, August 27th, Interbeing Sangha is planning an outdoor Summer Day of Mindfulness including walking meditation, eating mindfully together, and a session of Mindful Movement. Car pool from KUF to location for those who need it. Poster and registration coming soon!
Touching Happiness

"We can smile, breathe, walk, and eat our meals in a way that allows us to be in touch with the abundance of happiness that is available. We are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living. We know how to sacrifice ten years for a diploma, and we are willing to work very hard to get a job, a car, a house, and so on. But we have difficulty remembering that we are alive in the present moment, the only moment there is for us to be alive. Every breath we take, every step we make, can be filled with peace, joy, and serenity. We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment.”
