Huge bookshop sale and a jazz brunch

Saturday 15th July, 11am-2pm: Jazz Brunch and Grand Sale Opening, with the Ludlow Jazz Collective!

You are invited to enjoy a Jazz Brunch at Aardvark on Saturday morning, while you browse our sale!! We are delighted to have the Ludlow Jazz Collective playing while you enjoy American-style brunch, live jazz with Casey Green on alto sax and flute, Paul Brooks on keyboard, Erika Lyons on bass and Barry Jones on drums. Thank you very much to Paul from The Cliffe at Dinham and all the musicians for stepping in to play a programme of smooth jazz standards, some Latin and touch of the blues. Do come and hear them while you enjoy orange juice, coffee, pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, and vegetarian bruschetta made with Swift's sourdough - truly scrumptious brunching to start your weekend!

We are also opening our Big Book Sale which will then run for a further two weeks, until Sunday 30th July. There'll be lots of books at bargain prices to browse through, plus hidden gems to unearth and buy! All are welcome, there'll be bargains throughout the shop too. Free entry and parking.

Looking forward, September will be a Literary and Cultural month at Aardvark:
First, "Literary Ludlow" at Ludlow Food Festival!
8th-10th September

We will be mounting a pop-up bookshop in Ludlow Castle this year - the first at a Food Festival, we believe! - and an exciting programme of author events is planned. Do come and find us in the Food Festival and enjoy a coffee while you browse the books - Aardvark comes to Ludlow!

Second: 9th-24th September: h.Art at Aardvark

This year we are delighted to be showcasing the work of textile artists including Jenni Stuart-Anderson, Su Pascoe and Caroline Everett, as well as art in other media: prints by Drusilla Cole, work by Lorenzo Gavarini, and stick chairs and more wonderful woodwork by Terry Browne.

Third: Special Book Launch at Aardvark Books!

"What if Napoleon, instead of Wellington, had won the Battle of Waterloo? -1817, with Josephine presiding at court in London, Wellington secretly held prisoner on the Scilly Isles, and rebellion simmmering in Cornwall, Jack Crowlas saves a young woman fleeing the clutches of vengeful French soldiers."

We are very excited to be able to launch "False Lights" by K J Whittaker, aka our very own Katy! Come and meet Katy and hear about her new novel, published by a major London publishing house. Date mid-September, to be confirmed.
