Blue Hole Club Update

Just a quick message this issue to update everyone.  Sunday 2nd July gave us some really big seas without storms, so it was very much a challenge to all.  Prudent regard for safety saw only 15 swimmers have a go, with another 5 sensibly recognising their own abilities, and opting out.  As it was, a nasty wave near the 2nd can, meant two deciding on the safety of the rubber duck.  Much better water on 9th July gave all of the 20 swimmers who rocked up to have a go, with a strong rip near the 2nd can being a real challenge to finish.

With the season half over our two young lady fishes, Maddie Thomson and Lara Taylor are the early leaders in A Grade, while Kevin Edwards and John Whittick are proving the old adage that old age and treachery will always beat youth and skill in the B Grade.

An early reminder! We are hosting the Scarboro Polar Bears this year in the Annual Challenge, and as usual the day is the Sunday after the Avon Descent, i.e. our meet is on Sunday 13th August.Swimmers please "gird your loins" or whatever you do to swim very fast, and in overwhelming numbers. If you are not swimming, bring food to also show that we can match the Polar Bears great hospitality. More on this next issue.
