Love My Neighbourhood: Nominations Closing Soon!
Love My Neighbourhood is a new initiative to help build a more vibrant, connected Niagara Falls. It is an opportunity for neighbours to come together to celebrate what's special about their neighbourhood. City staff will organize celebrations at three selected neighbourhood parks with the assistance of neighbourhood volunteers.
To nominate your neighbourhood and local park to be the site of a celebration, complete the Love My Neighbourhood form. Simply tell us what you love about your neighbourhood and why it should be selected for a celebration.
Nominations Close on July 20, 2017.

Free Niagara Falls Canada 150 Signature Event
On Saturday August 26th, a day- long celebration of everything Canadian will take place at the Scotiabank Convention Centre.
During the day, there will be plenty of free family friendly fun, including a children’s area, Mini Comic Con, an art showcase, and food trucks featuring quintessential Canadian foods.
Juno award winning Matthew Good with special guests The Blue Stones will headline an evening of great Canadian entertainment for a 19+ licensed event. There is limited capacity - so circle your calendar and plan to arrive early! Doors will open at 7pm.

Operation Awesome Playgrounds!
Over the past two weeks, City staff visited 6 different Operation Awesome Playground parks to meet with the surrounding community, and present the new playground design. Thank you for everyone who came out to speak with us and provide your valuable feedback!

South End Off-Leash Dog Park
The new off-leash dog park is proposed to be located at the Niagara Falls Humane Society on Chippawa Parkway!
Visit letstalk.niagarafalls.ca to view a conceptual sketch for the proposed dog park and you will see that the design not only addresses the needs of the pet owners, but also attempts to create an inviting and enjoyable space for people to use as well.

Buddhist Museum Grand Opening
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Chinese Buddhism propagation in North America, The Buddhists Association of Canada Cham Shan Temple held their Buddhist Museum Grand Opening in Niagara Falls on June 20, 2017. The Buddhist Museum in Canada is the first and largest self-supported Chinese Buddhist Museum in North America. It is a multi-functional museum integrating Chinese culture, religion, education, charity and tourism.
The museum is housed in the Peace Sarira Stupa and its architectural design mimics the Dayan Style Pagoda in China. The exhibits consists of collections of precious Buddhist cultural relics and artworks, while the Sarira of Sakyamuni Buddha is enshrined on the top floor.

GO Hub and Station Study: Update
This past June, the Niagara Region conducted a public opinion survey and held public meetings to gather input on how the area surrounding Niagara's four proposed GO stations should be developed. The input received will help to develop secondary plans for each site, and will be presented to the public for review and feedback in fall 2017.
The Region's website offers more information regarding the GO Hub and Station Study. Residents are encouraged to visit the website to learn about the important work happening in our community to prepare for the arrival of daily GO Train service.

Thanks to a great partnership between the Niagara Falls Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC) and Staples Canada, five young entrepreneurs in the Summer Company program were able to showcase their businesses at the Morrison Street Staples in Niagara Falls.

Canada Day Fun: Pieces of Canada - 150 Objects - 150 Stories Exhibit
The Niagara Falls History Museum encourages residents to tour "The Pieces of Canada Exhibit" running until December 31, 2017. The exhibit features 150 Canadian artifacts, loaned to the Museum by the community, providing their idea on what makes it an important story about Canada's past.
There are stories about transportation, immigration, sports, military and much more. These are personal stories that collectively tell us something about our nation. View more information.
