You Got Mail

Hi <<Name>>

How's the last fortnight treated you? I've had an hilarious conversation attempting to talk to a French fishmonger using language skills that weren't very good when even when I learnt them over 20 years ago.

I'm sticking to written English for now, and this email is all about email - how very meta, eh?

You're subscribed to this so you must like the odd newsletter. Letterlist is a curated selection of newsletters that you can sign up to with a quick click of a button. I've discovered a few gems from here and Marc's Hackpreneur newsletter is pretty brilliant too!
I stumbled in to a talk Jessica Hische was giving at Reasons to be Creative a few years ago, and I was awe struck by her work. I've been a fan ever since and she gives away all sorts of advice and assets like this Client Email Helper. Need to politely tell a client that you won't work for free? How about turning down that nightmare sounding project from the desperate ad agency? There's templates for these and much more.
I've often spent too long emailing back and forth with someone to find a time we could meet up. You could pick up the phone, but where's the fun in that when you can use some AI? Copy in Amy (or Andrew) and you'll have an AI assistant deal with all the nitty gritty of suggesting times and scheduling your meetings. I've only used the free version, but I think this would be totally invaluable if the bulk of your job involved meetings and scheduling.
While we're talking AI, why not have Inspirobot generate you a few life affirming quotes written on suitably social media friendly images. It's occasionally very insightful, but mostly extremely surreal!
I was talking earlier about how email is a poor medium to have discussions after an argument or other misunderstanding. I'm not sure if this backs up my claim or not. In fact I'm not even sure I know what it is, but the apology simulator is certainly one of the more interesting 'games' you'll play online. Craft an apology to an awkward situation and decide if it's acceptable. A premise so crazy, it might just work...
Want to get even more meta? Email a friend this email newsletter about email, and let them know where to sign up to get the next one emailed directly to them!

Don't hold me to it, but I think next time I'll be looking at classic games with a modern twist. Until then

Stay Classy!

Cheers,

Paul. (Bunkers)
