What a great line up we have for you all this weekend!

Friday we are featuring the Okanagan Spring Best of BC Varietal Award winners! 4 Gold medal winners and one Silver. Starting us off is another home run from Clos du Soleil with their new vintage of their Grower's Series Pinot Blanc, certified organic and a truly balanced wine. Tinhorn Creek new vintage Pinot Gris, which is always one of our best sellers and a staff favourite. Quail's Gate one a gold medal for their new 2016 Chenin Blanc, slightly aromatic and such a unique grape to work with, its a great chance to try something very different. The beautiful Arrowleaf Solstice Pinot Noir from their Solstice line brought home Gold for Arrowleaf as well as a few of their other wines. Finally we have the brand new Bordertown Merlot which won a Silver. If any of you are familiar with their fantastic Living Desert Red blend or Cabernet Franc that we have in store this Merlot follows suit and won Bordertown a Silver Medal, not an easy task as the Merlot category is incredibly competitive.

For Saturday we have a special treat of some of the wines that went into our CLUB SPW boxes this month! I was very exciting about all the wines this month as our focus was the Best of BC Varietal Awards. Come in and try some some fabulous bubbles from Gray Monk! The new 2015 Rose Brut from their Odyssey line is a fantastic value for some BC sparkling. Next we're pouring one of my absolute favourite summer sippers, The Monster Vineyards Skinny Dip. A crisp and refreshing unoaked chardonnay it will change your mind about the grape and become your new favourite for sipping by the pool side. Two of our favourite wineries have some new releases too! Play Estate has just released their 2015 AD LIB  which has been flying off the shelves. Also Fitzpatrick has released another new wine from their incredible portfolio, The Runabout, a beautiful blend of their aromatic whites. Finally we have an old favourite for some and a new favourite for others, the Nk'mip Cellars Talon. What a wonderfully rich wine. Perfect for the summer nights by the fire or with a good steak. Come in and taste our delicious line up!

Cheers,

Clos du Soleil 2016 Grower's Series Pinot Blanc $21.80+taxes
CERTIFIED ORGANIC
This Pinot Blanc, one of Clos du Soleil's acclaimed "Grower's Series", hails from a vineyard on the Middle Bench Road in Keremeos. On the nose this wine is a tightly-woven tapestry of tangerine, nectarine, and pear, with subtle floral highlights. This carries through to the elegantly-expressed palate of crunchy, sun-ripened apple and pear, some citrus notes, and just a hint of spicy pepper. Perfectly balanced, light, clean and soft, this is a wine flush with the flavours of the Similkameen summertime. Medium-bodied, this wine is perfect for pairing with grilled fish, pastas with olive oil and fresh vegetables, or just a lazy summer afternoon.

Great approachability and will pair well with a large assortment of cheeses and lighter meat dishes.

GOLD MEDAL- BC BEST OF VARIETAL AWARDS 2017

91 points – John Schreiner “The wine presents in the glass with a light golden glint. The appeal continues with aromas of pear and apple mingled with citrus and spice. On the palate, there is an absolute fruit salad of flavour – pear, nectarine and citrus. The wine has generous weight on the palate, with a finish that is both luscious and refreshing”

 Fitzpatrick 2016 Runabout $23.06+taxes
NEW WINE IN STORE~CLUB SPW RELEASE

This five grape blend has a little bit of something for everyone in it, and contains all of the white grapes grown at our estate vineyard. Technically-speaking, it’s the second press of our grapes – the first press going to the varietal wines – that we set aside specifically for a white blend. The 2016 vintage is a substantial wine owing both to the heat of the vintage as well as the 40% Chardonnay and 30% Gewurztraminer that make up the majority of the finished wine.

Ripe peach, lychee and rose petal on the nose. Slightly sweet, but not quite off dry, Runabout has excellent balance between acidity and sweetness that makes for an approachable, versatile wine. Every white grape planting and every soil type at our estate vineyard is represented in this blend – a true taste of the estate. Throw some whole rainbow trout on the BBQ. 621 cases produced. Blend: 40% Chardonnay, 30% Gewürztraminer, 11% Ehrenfelser, 11% Riesling, 8% Pinot Blanc.
