EBTC Presentation at SETAC

Francois Busquet, member of the EBTC Zebrafish working group, presented on behalf of the team on the current progress at the SETAC (Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry) in Brussels last May. The presentation was entitled "Evidence-Based Toxicology and systematic reviews – the missing link between the advancements of science and confident evaluation of environmental effects of chemicals”. The room was well attended and the feedback from the audience was specifically on how to integrate structured information to facilitate systematic review. One possibility could be to integrate the necessary information via supplemental data. Slides of the presentation are available here.

A Survey of the Systematic Review Landscape in Toxicology and a Discussion to Inform When and How Systematic Review Can Most Meaningfully Be Used As an Approach to Evaluate Toxicological and Risk Assessment Questions." The session will include the introductory survey of the landscape with current applications of SR given by Dr. Wikoff, followed by a talk by the EBTC Director Katya Tsaioun on the new software tools that save time and increase the efficiency and consistency of the process, and concluded by Alisa Aiassa from European Food Safety Agency (EFSA), giving a perspective of a regulatory agency which is pioneering the use of systematic review in their safety assessment. NIH Quantitative Systems Pharmacology Workshop

Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) is the merger of systems biology and systems pharmacology approaches for the purpose of facilitating drug discovery and development for complex diseases that have not been defined by a single molecular target. NIH has put together a workshop on July 26-27, 2017 in Bethesda, MD, to assess the state of the art and identify gaps in different areas of QSP. EBTC's Katya Tsaioun is chairing a session on Application of Systems Pharmacology to PK/PD, Prediction of Adverse Events and Systems Medicine on July 26. Please register here and see the full agenda here.
There is still time to submit your abstract. A limited number of post-doc poster slots is still available to be sponsored by NIH for travel to present systems pharmacology work.
