North to the borders of Zimbabwe and Botswana.

This visit was to a newly set up business offering driven plains game which is unique to this area.
.
A lot of time and planning has gone into this operation with a newly built 15 room luxury Lodge complete with all facilities including swimming pool.
First class food is offered along with good quality wines.

The hunting day consists of an average of 5 drives with the hunters shooting from small towers for safety, the game being driven by a line of 100 beaters, all from the local community. They are very happy in their work and sing local songs as they push the game through the bush which adds to the atmosphere of the day.
After each drive the fallen game is marked and recovered by an eight man tracking team whilst the clients are taken by 4x4 to the next drive.
A group of 10 to 15 hunters can expect to shoot 150 to 200 animals over 4 days of hunting.  Approximately 18 different species that can be hunted are found in this area.
The group enjoy drinks around the fire pit before dinner. During dinner the day’s game is laid out (Tableau) for the group to view and photograph.

Helicopter trips can also be arranged to view game including Buffalo and Elephant.

There are no trophy fees making the package very good value for money.
All in all a very exciting and different African experience.

South to the Eastern Cape

Travelling further South, Vernon with a small group of 3 hunters and partners joined our hunting associate Hennie La Roux in the Eastern Cape.
Hennie was a player with the famous Springboks team that won the 1995 world cup and is the owner of Crown River.

Here we offer traditional plains game hunting, river cruises and fishing while residing in a stunning lodge overlooking the river at Settlers Dam. The views from the lodge terrace and brai are just stunning.

The group had a great few days hunting taking, Kudu, Bushbuck, Waterbuck, Bontebok,
Nyala, Impala, Mountain Rhebok, Warthog, Zebra and a Cape Buffalo.

For the members of the group who did not wish to hunt there was game viewing opportunities at Crown River and on this occasion Shamwari Game Reserve. There are a number of game viewing facilities in the area where a variety of animals such as Elephant, Rhino (White and Black), Hippopotamus, Buffalo, Giraffe, Lion, Cheetah, Zebra, Warthog and most antelopes can be closely viewed.

Other trips can be arranged to historic sites in the area including trips to the coast, and of course we normally finished the day with sundowners on a river trip at Crown River.

The group also visited Splitting Image Taxidermy in Port Elizabeth which was a large and very interesting studio. We were privileged to be shown around by the owner Douglas Cockcroft. An unbelievable amount of work was in progress in various stages of the process. A very interesting visit altogether and a must for anybody interested in this type of art form.

If either of these trips interests you, please contact us and we can discuss your specific requirements.
