We need your help to win a fair contract!

Hi All,

Our Bargaining Committee met twice with Management last week to continue our negotiations. Besides reaching a tentative agreement on sick leave (which will, among other things, expand our ability to use sick leave), our Committee presented our wage proposal.
The three key elements to our wage proposal are:
1) restart the step system that provides annual wage increases to account for our increased experience
2) provide much needed increases to many of those at the lowest end of the University’s pay scale
3) provide protection against the possible massive increase in our health insurance premium that Governor Rauner is trying to push on state employees.

With both sides committed to concluding these negotiations in a reasonable amount of time, the process is already moving faster than in the recent past. Our committee is very hopeful that we will reach agreement before the end date of our current contract (August 27), so we need our members fully engaged and ready to act if called upon. With that in mind, we are in the process of planning a group action to take place around that date. Keep on the lookout for additional details!

As a reminder, it’s critical that we have the full support of our bargaining unit to get a fair contract. If you haven’t yet signed a membership card, please reach out to one of us.
