Coastal Cleanup Day Sept. 16!
The City of San Rafael and GWC invite you to Coastal Cleanup Day on Gallinas Creek!

Coastal Cleanup Day is an annual event in California and around the country. Everyone helps keep waterways and shorelines clean. Here in the Gallinas Watershed we venture out onto Gallinas Creek to access trash in marshy areas and creek banks. We have fun cleaning up the creek with canoes, kayaks and rowboats, pulling the trash out as we go.

When: Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Where: Meet 10:30 AM at McInnis Boat Dock. We align our cleanup with the high tide, which on Gallinas Creek is around 11:15 AM (5.2 feet high) that day.

How: By canoe, kayak, boat, paddleboard or on foot.

Bring: If you want to be on the water, bring your watercraft. Wear old clothes; boots, or water sandals with heavy socks, old, long sleeved shirt and long pants, gloves. You will be working in a wet, mucky, marsh environment at high tide. You will mostly likely get your feet and pants wet.

Bring sun protection, drinking water, a towel and clean shoes for the ride home. We will provide plastic trash bags and gloves and grabbers.

RSVP: Tel 415 499 0838

Sponsors: GWC is looking for sponsors for this event. Please contact us if you want to help make this day a success!

See You in the Watershed!

Native Plant Propagation Classes!

Marin RCD is initiating a volunteer-based native plant nursery program to support resource management at the Seashore. The nursery will support the vegetation management programs in the Pt. Reyes Seashore and restoration in the overall Lagunitas Creek watershed. First Wed. of every month, come help and learn Native Plant Propagation techniques as you support riparian plants and fish. The RCD is also hosting creek clean ups in Sleepy Hollow, Murphy Creek and more! Carbon farming and rainwater harvesting are some of the past classes they have offered. Visit the website for more info or email Sarah@Marinrcd.org to be on the mailing list for future classes.
