Hello Play Therapists!
By now, many of you are in full-swing with a burst of new clients as the school year has gotten underway. This can be a busy time of year and it is so important to engage in self-care to prevent full blown burnout by October!
One of the many challenges mental health and school professionals talk to me about is the lack of time to pursue the ongoing professional development they are seeking. Whether this is working towards your RPT credential, or your needed CEU’s, or for your personal and professional development, finding the TIME to leave work, clients, and life is a challenge for many!! Not to mention the cost related to this!!
Due to this, this newsletter is dedicated to finding the right webinars, books, and resources for clinicians so they can do this on their own time, when it is convenient and better yet- curled up on the couch in your jammies with a nice cup of hot cocoa! (This is sounding better and better isn’t it??)
My go to books I recommend to professionals are the following:
- Dibs in Search of Self, by Virginia Axline
- The Healing Power of Play, by Eliana Gil
- Becoming Attached, by Robert Karen
- Supervision Can Be Playful, by Athena Drewes
Better yet- for many of these books- you can also earn APT CE’s for reading and taking a quiz after! Not sure reading is on your leisure list to do?
How about watching a few dazzling webinars?
I have a few to offer and you can also find several at www.pesi.com or www.a4pt.org
- Healing Wounded Hearts: Attachment Centered Play Therapy
Behavioral Health University
- The ABC's of Play Thearpy
Utah Play Therapy
- The Power of Play: Proven Strategies for Trauma & Attachment in Children & Adolescents PESI
What about play therapy supervision you ask?
Yes- this is something you can do from the comfort of your own home as well! There are many professionals offering distance-learning supervision. You can find them at www.a4pt.org or sign up now on my website! Group and individual supervision is available and it is FUN!!
If you can make it, I would love to see you at my next events!
Keep Playing!
