Put October 14 in your calendar for Homecoming 2017!
We're talking good old fashioned fun, so call your old roomie and dig out your Truman gear; you probably don't want to miss this.
Hello, Alumni!

The Kirksville Newman Alumni Association launched last summer with a mission to "honor our community's past, support the Newman Center's enduring impact, and connect alumni through continued stewardship, fellowship and faith."  One year in, we are making some adjustments to help us make a bigger impact going forward.

We want to thank those of you who formally joined the "alumni association" last year. After some reflection, the board has realized that a membership-based model doesn't reflect our mission. We want all Newman alumni to be a part of one community. Together, we have great opportunities to connect and support the Newman Center's continued success. To reflect this change, we are dropping the word "Association" from our name and have refreshed our logo.

We have also reorganized our Alumni Board to be a bit more streamlined. The two of us have stepped forward to serve as co-chairs for the coming year. Our other board members include Marianne Cline ('11), Chris Koch ('90), Kate Schmittgens ('15), Kim (Zamastil) Westerman ('04) and Ashley (Buhmann) Wiskirchen ('13). Feel free to reach out to any of us if you have feedback or suggestions for this effort.

Finally, we have recognized that one of our weaknesses - and thus an opportunity to grow - is the connection to our alumni. When the Newman Center burned down in 2007, all of the alumni files were lost. Rebuilding the records and our relationship with you as an alumnus or alumna continues to be a difficult task. One way you can help is to forward our sign up form to any alumni in your address book or use the Forward to a Friend link below. Another way you can make an impact is to sign up to make a monthly gift to the Newman Center with our new online giving page.

Thank you so much for being a part of this alumni community! We hope to see you in Kirksville for Homecoming on October 14th!

Welcoming New Newman-ites

"
You each come here with something. A toil. A hope. A gift. Whatever it is, bring it here. The most important thing we do this week – is right here, together, with Jesus, at this altar."

CLASS NOTES

Chris Buerke, '13, recently accepted the position of Regional Assistant Director of Admission at Rockhurst University, based in St. Louis. After exploring Ireland and other travels this summer, he's looking forward to coordinating the Greater St. Louis area, working with students to pursue Catholic higher education, and diving into the Jesuit mission!

Hannah Brockhaus, '15, is celebrating her one-year anniversary working as a Rome Correspondent for Catholic News Agency/EWTN News in Rome, Italy. She started this chapter in August 2016, and has excitedly taken in her new adventures (and asks for your prayers) as she continues to adjust to her new job and home. Visitors are always welcome!
