A Captain Unafraid, Cuba/NY

Give Ear Ye Fearless Hearts of Gold!

For the month of June we had screenings that traversed the island of Cuba, the pinnacle of which was at an E.U. sponsored Film Festival in Havana on the 3rd. There was a great turnout of around 300 Cubans and other assorted individuals, including the head of the E.U. delegation in Cuba and a representative of the Irish Embassy. Other men of note present included, Austrian director, Hubert Sauper! Hubert took a great interest in the Captain's exploits as his newest endeavor in film will have a Cuban theme, focusing on the Island as a battleground of world ideology.

Here is a gallery of assorted images from the Captain's latest sojurn in the Americas.

Here is a link to an article I wrote "Dynamite John, Through The Lens of A Captain Unafraid" that details in pen and ink all the research undertaken during the filming. I tried to get it published left right and centre, to no avail.

Cien 23 y 12, La Habana

The world premiere of A Captain Unafraid took place at Cine 23 y 12 in the Vedado neighbourhood of Havana.
The Irish Embassy in Mexico sent Consul Nancy Tuohy-Hamill to the screening and, indeed, she is one of the main reasons the film played there atall. Thanks to Nancy and all at the Irish Embassy!

Cuba, Kerry

Two places not often named together. The next screenings of The Captain will take place in September in the Kingdom of Kerry and October on the east end of the island of Cuba. Other plans are being hatched for another infiltration of the Big Apple too over the winter. I'll keep ye all in the loop through the usual sources.
