Hey Makers!

Sorry for the extended bit of radio silence. We were busy in the background but didn't have any firm details to report. As with most things, this work took more time than expected. Here is an update on what we have been up to since our last message.

First, I want to thank those of you who reached out with advice and offers of assistance. After some advice on the zoning issues with the Allan St location we followed up with the Planning Department to see if anything could be done to make it workable. Unfortunately the location will still not be viable for us. The building was zoned residential, but grandfathered in as commercial, but as it turned out, it was not approved for the type of commercial use we needed.  At the same time, Shawn started pursuing other locations. The two of us visited a couple locations to get further details. When considering the pros and cons of each location one stood out with a lot of pros and very few cons. The biggest con is that it is outside the city centre, but it is still within a 10 minute walk of a bus stop. We were hoping to have all the details for you by Friday but we are still waiting on the landlord to sign off on the offer so that we can share it with you all. We are hoping that by Monday or Tuesday we will have that for you.

Once we have the details ready for you we are going to ask that everyone who had committed already to reach out and confirm that they are still in. We realize that location plays a big role for some people. The new location may appeal more to others than the Allan St location so hopefully we will gain some new people as well. We still need 20 committed members so we will set another deadline for shortly after we announce the details.

In the meantime we realised that we got so busy with this process, and a few of us had vacations in the past couple weeks, that we neglected to plan Social Nights for July. We are going to schedule one for this coming Wednesday, July 19 - 7pm at Uncommon Grounds. Hope you are all having a great summer so far.
