Aboriginal Consultation
Thursday 27 July 2017 | 9:30am - 2:30pm | Nambucca Community and Arts Centre
We are inviting any Aboriginal people who work with Aboriginal children, young people, families and communities in the Nambucca, Macksville and Bowraville areas to come along to this event. The Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) are reforming targeted earlier intervention programs because despite our best endeavours, the number of children reported at risk of significant harm continues to grow, and we need to intervene earlier. You can read more about this by clicking here.
This is your opportunity to have your say! Please share this with anyone you know who might also want to attend.
Check out the flyer here.

National Deadly Fun Run
Congratulations to Zane Sparke from Port Macquarie, who won the recent National Deadly Fun Run Championships, held in the red sands around Uluru in Central Australia. The Port Macquarie team, organised by the Indigenous Marathon Project’s first-ever graduate, Charlie Maher, made an immediate impact in their first Deadly Fun Run, taking out the title of community champions. Tennant Creek came second and, in a great result for such a small community, Mimili from the APY Lands of northern South Australia, finished third.

Scoping paper explores options for increasing social connection for older people from marginalised communities
We know that older people from marginalised communities are more likely to face barriers in social connection.
Inclusive and connected communities is a priority area under the NSW Ageing Strategy, and we need to make sure older people from marginalised communities are not left out. Recognising the need to build on existing work, NCOSS brought together members and stakeholders to begin a conversation about the barriers and enablers to social connection for older people from marginalised communities and to shape a plan for a systemic response.
