Erase the Stigma Update

Our 2nd Annual Erase the Stigma Day was a success. We had over 170 people attend. We fed everyone until they were full, and gave out 70 Recreation Center Day Passes. People were laughing, swimming, crying and smiling. All 7 speakers were great and those in attendance held interest in the topics and discussions. Everyone was very friendly and kind to each other and made connections. Overall we feel that it was a big start in getting solutions out into our community and we look forward to doing one again next year. We are also expanding and looking into doing Erase the Stigma events in neighboring cities. With Addiction on the rise we will put in the action to be there when and where we can.

Testimony

I approached Steps To Recovery because I needed a change in my life. I have spent the last 25+ years in active addiction and I didn't like where I was at in my life or the person that I had become.

I knew I needed help so I reached out to Damien. He described the program and expectations and was honest enough to tell me that it is not an easy program but worth it if I am truly willing to change. That’s when I made the decision to give it a try.

Steps To Recovery has helped me by establishing structure in my early recovery. The requirements of the program helped me to become involved in AA/NA by going to meetings regularly, getting a home group and service position. And finding a sponsor and working the steps with him. Life Coaching sessions and Equine Therapy were both eye opening and educational.

The result has been a change in my attitude and behavior. The rules and requirements of the program/ house hold me accountable for my actions and that has helped me to be more responsible and dependable. The step work with my sponsor is helping me become a better person through honesty, self-discovery and faith. I have built new meaningful relationships and I'm in the process of repairing the relationships that I have destroyed. The progress that I have made has given me a new outlook on life and I'm even starting to feel a little bit better about myself.

In my opinion, what makes this program unique, aside from all the services that Steps To Recovery offers that others don't, is the honest commitment that Damien and Ann have to help people with the disease of addiction that want help and are willing to try to change.

This has been a very challenging yet rewarding experience and has changed and continues to change my life.

I would strongly recommend this program to anyone struggling with drugs and/or alcohol and are fed up and want a better life.

Miracles Happen

Come by Miracles Happen Resale Store and see our newly arranged store. We continue to strive to keep quality items for a reasonable affordable cost. We believe this way everyone in our community will be able to afford what they like.

We believe in our community and continue to help out people in need. We give items away on a regular basis to people in the community and other non-profits. We also continue to help our graduates furnish their homes when they transition out of our program.

Remember that we pick up items and deliver and are always looking for volunteers to help with our cause. Hope to see you soon.

Really Making the Difference

Steps to Recovery Homes has been making a difference in the lives of many people around our community for almost 4 years now. When we started we just wanted to give individuals an opportunity to find a life worth living. We have continued to touch lives and set an example for people with addiction issues. The people that come through our homes become family. We are very honest and forthcoming with them about the changes they need to make in their lives in order to be content. At first it is not easy to change but after they start changing they thank us for being honest with them and not cosigning their attitudes or behaviors.

We formed Steps to Recovery Homes for our community to be around for future generations. We wanted to have a place that really focused on the people and the changes that would be necessary to actually grow up and start to truly embrace their lives. We did not want to just apply a band-aid on the suffering they were causing to themselves and others.

It has been working and looking back on all of the trials and tribulations it has been worth it. We are not always the best liked people, and that’s ok. Being the person that stands for their beliefs is worth it in the long run.

What do we offer?

We offer a holistic view on recovery that works. We have an affordable program that goes deeper than the surface level reasons that people abuse substances and allow our clients to start doing the work to actually change and sustain long-term recovery. We help the people that fall through the cracks with nowhere to go.

If you know someone that is suffering, Steps to Recovery Homes can make a huge difference. This program offers individuals a chance at finding a purpose in their lives.
