Dear <<First Name>>,

After 5 years at the helm, APA’s founding president Brad Meiklejohn has decided to pass the torch. Brad and APA’s board have worked tirelessly to raise awareness about packrafting, campaign for responsible packrafting access, advocate for wild lands conservation, and foster a sense of community among packrafters. I’m honored Brad and the board have chosen me to be APA’s second president.

Packrafting has grown tremendously in popularity in recent years. APA now has over 1,100 members across the US and around the world. Although we're still a very small organization, there’s a lot to do! Most importantly, we need to promote a culture of safety throughout our community. We hope to provide new opportunities to develop packrafting skills, participate in outings, and connect with other packrafters.

Exciting times are ahead, and I’d love to hear from you. You can reach me by email at joseph@packraft.org. How can the APA better serve our members? What’s going on with packrafting where you are? Are you interested in becoming an APA trip leader, or hosting a get-together? Perhaps you’re willing to help APA grow, by volunteering your hard-won skills in public relations, design, fundraising, governance, or something completely different.

Packrafters are a friendly crowd, and I’m glad to be one of you! Looking forward to what we accomplish together over the next year.

Cheers,
Joseph Bell
