This week on Babbittville….The New York City Triathlon!

Endurance Lives Here!
Greetings from the Big Apple!

Hope you are having a great summer! It's been a busy summer in Babbittville, with lots of races and interviews. Just returned from the Big Apple, where we filmed some really fun Breakfast with Bob interviews and raced the 2XU New York City Triathlon. If you haven't ever raced in New York City and get the chance to, I highly recommend it. It's a great New York City adventure: swimming down current in the Husdon River, riding on open roads on the West Side Highway, and running in iconic Central Park.

We filmed 21 interviews over two days before the triathlon, and met some talented young US triathlon stars. Meet Jason West: Jason grew up as a wrestler and was a collegiate triathlete at Penn State. After a few rough patches with injuries, Jason is now racing well and loving life as a professional triathlete and has his sights set on 2020.

Jason had a great race in New York, finishing 2nd behind seasoned pro Cam Dye. WATCH our interview here.

Meet Erin Storie. Erin swam and ran cross country and track in high school, ran in college, and then was introduced to triathlon. She is now one of the bright US up and coming triathlon stars. Erin had a great race in New York, finishing 4th.

Meet Alex Libin. Alex started out racing XTERRA off-road triathlons, then transitioned to ITU racing. Now after the high-pressure environment of chasing points on the WTS circuit, he's found joy again racing the Major League Tri series and non-drafting races. Alex has a great personality and brings a refreshing attitude to the sport.

All our Breakfast with Bob interviews were awesome, but I must say, one of my new favorite people is the amazing Amy Bevilacqua. The 2012 New York City Triathlon women's champion, Amy Bevilacqua grew up as a gymnast, and as she says: "ran away with the circus" as a trapeze artist. Now the mom of five, and former steeplechaser, enjoys racing as a professional triathlete and obstacle course athlete.
Great line from the interview: Amy was at Williams College when women were first allowed to compete in the steeplechase. Her coach picked Amy for the event. "He told me I was perfect for it because I was sturdy and expendable," she laughs.

Meet Glenn Hartrick. Pictured at the top with yours truly at the finish of the New York City Triathlon.

In June of 2014, top age-group triathlete Glenn Hartrick was paralyzed when he crashed into a car that had made an illegal u-turn in front of him. Three years later he is racing on a relay here in New York with fellow Challenged Athletes Foundation athlete Rudy Garcia-Tolson. Plus, in November he is racing Ironman Florida!

Every time I chat with Glenn, I always leave feeling uplifted and unstoppable, just like Glenn. WATCH our interview here.
