Performance Freediver

July 2017

WHY CHOOSE PFI?

Since its inception in January 2000, PFI has been the pioneering force in the sport of freediving.  Our educational system has long been considered the “Gold Standard” by which other programs can be measured and we've created many of the safety protocols and educational advances copied and taught by agencies around the world.

We are the education provider of choice for elite athletic teams such as Red Bull and military Special Forces units of the US, Great Britain and Canada. We are proud that our instructor program is unquestionably the most rigorous and comprehensive freedive instructor qualification in existence.

While some other agencies, new to the sport of freediving but eager to capture market share, have created “standards” that allow their instructors to remain at the surface while their students perform their dives to depth, PFI instructors are always with you on every step of the dive, constantly evaluating your technique and prepared to assist you if needed.

All of our active instructors are certified and carry at least $1,000,000 in liability insurance, and are subject to PFI’s extensive Quality Assurance measures.

PFI students consistently report outstanding satisfaction with their experience and many have told us our courses have changed, and occasionally saved, their lives.

Choose carefully—Choose PFI

THE OBSERVER EFFECT

“When you dive into the alien world of the ocean, your simplest actions — regardless of your intent — and your very presence, by the nature of your physical size, equipment, movements and sudden appearance, have an effect upon the environment's natural inhabitants.” Douglas D. Seifert

Check out this excellent reminder of the effects we have and the responsibility we all share when we enjoy our underwater world.  From Divers Alert Network (DAN), with whom PFI is proud to partner to increase education and safe enjoyment of our shared aquatic environment.
