The Great Outdoors
A Chicago man's hope for a peaceful family vacation in the woods is shattered when the annoying in-laws drop in.
I'll be attending the hotdog dinner
This is a family event, but you don't have to have kids to attend and have fun. Everyone welcome! No dogs, please.

Bring your own chairs, blankets and refreshments for dinner and movie night.

Thank you to Pete Crawford, our projectionist, for his time and the use of his professional equipment and popcorn machine.

BBLCA News
E.coli levels can rise dramatically on long weekends because of increased activity in the water, especially speeding close to shore. Stirred up sediment raises E.coli levels. See our Environment and Facebook pages for our E.coli Watch, including water testing schedule & results.

The AGM & Spaghetti Lunch Social will be on Saturday, September 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at 7 FR87 (Robinson Court), home of Paul & Sue Flanagan. We have a new format this year. Come by early and view displays of our year in review. The AGM meeting will be approximately 15 minutes and will cover approval of minutes and financial statements and election of board members. If you've ever tried Paul's chili, you won't want to miss his spaghetti. Don't forget to vote on your favourite photo.
Garbage Dumping
Three garbage bags, consisting mostly of beer cans, were dumped on Philrick Drive just north of the 4-corners right after July 1st celebrations. Thank you to the families who picked up the garbage. There may have been other instances on the lake as well. Please see our Environment page for what to do if you find garbage.

If you lend or rent your cottage, please ensure that occupants understand how to dispose of garbage properly. If you don't make arrangements for them, don't assume they'll take their garbage home. You can purchase a Cottage Kit at the transfer station. It includes a single pass and disposal bags. Details are on our website.

West Nile Virus Confirmed in Local Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes in the City of Peterborough have tested positive for West Nile virus. The risk to you is low, but you can take some preventative measures such as covering up, cleaning up and wearing insect repellent. Read the complete article from Peterborough Public Health.

Wake Damage

As property owners, we understand the damage that can be caused by wake, but please inform your guests and renters. Speeding close to shore, especially with these high water levels, can dislodge docks, slam boats against docks, erode shorelines, affect fish and stir up sediment which raises E.coli levels. If you cause damage to another property, you are financially responsible for the damage.

Buckhorn Cenotaph

The BBLCA is sponsoring a red granite stone on memory lane to help raise money for the new Cenotaph at the Buckhorn Community Centre. You can sponsor a stone and be part of this great community project. The order deadline is August 15th. See our website for sponsor information.
