SATURDAY WORK PARTY: JULY 29,  10-12:30PM
Come join Tamara at our open-door work party this coming weekend, alongside the Riley Park Farmer's Market! Garden bed members are welcome to come and work on their beds in addition to helping out with general tasks. Tamara and the rest of the Re-Wilders group will be chatting about water-wise gardening as well as planting pollinators. Tasks for Saturday include: 


  • planting native plants into garden beds
  • harvesting phacelia seed heads 
  • forming woodchip pathways 
  • painting signs for the garden 
  • weeding + watering
  • completing our accessible beds

PLEIN AIR AT RILEY PARK 
Led by committee member Varouj, the "Plein Air" creative art event carried on through gloomy skies last weekend! Beautiful artwork was made by community members in the garden. Stay tuned for more arsty events coming! 


LOOKING FOR WAYS HELP OUT RILEY PARK COMMUNITY GARDEN?
There are several ways to help out as we work our way into our first growing season. If you have any ideas, please approach us at work parties or send an email to info@rileyparkgarden.org! We are currently looking for: 

  • an epicurious gardener interested in developing our herb plots
  • a truck owner to help us move compost structures, etc.
  • plant purchaser- help Tamara (tamaraelke@me.com) shop for plants for the remaining portions of the garden 
  • winter planting section ideas 

The New Gardeners program at Riley Park
Our program provides new gardeners with the tools and knowledge to get started in our garden. Check it out on Facebook: @NewGardenersAtRileyPark
 


UPCOMING EVENTS: 
-August 5th: Drop by our "Donation Station" at the Riley Park Farmer's Market, where we will be donating proceeds to the Newcomers Community Kitchen and others in need
-August 12th: Come join our International Potluck, where you can meet with members from the garden of many different cultures- stay and sample some different cuisines!

COMMUNITY BEAT: Register for The Environmental Youth Alliance (EYA) Native Plant Nursery Program!
Join a dedicated group of like-minded youth helping to grow thousands of native plants and trees. Get hands-on experience working in an organic nursery and greenhouse, while learning about Vancouver's urban wildlife and native habitat. Register by September 15th!
