Interbeing Sangha
of Kingston

Weekly Meeting

Our next weekly gathering takes place Sunday, July 30th, for meditation and dharma sharing, 6:30pm at Unitarian Place (Kingston Unitarian Fellowship), 206 Concession Street. Darcy Gawronski-McNinch will be bell minding.
The Gift of Non-Fear

"One of the greatest gifts we can offer people is to embody non-attachment and non-fear. This is a true teaching, more precious than money or material resources. Many of us are very afraid, and this fear distorts our lives and makes us unhappy. We cling to objects and to people like a drowning person clings to a floating log. Practicing to realize non-discrimination, to see the interconnectedness and impermanence of all things, and to share this wisdom with others, we are giving the gift of non-fear. Everything is impermanent. This moment passes. That person walks away. Happiness is still possible."

--Thich Nhat Hanh, from How to Love

Tomorrow

Sangha Care Meeting

This week on Sunday, July 30th, at 5:30 pm, one hour prior to our regular weekly meeting, we have a Sangha Care Meeting. Discussion will include our upcoming Day of Mindfulness, an opportunity to host a regional retreat, and reviewing our weekly meeting procedures and resources. We hope to see you there.

New Practice

Door Minding

The Building Committee at KUF has kindly requested all groups secure the building once their participants have arrived. Please note that we will lock the exterior door during transition from sitting to walking meditation, by 7:00 pm. Email interbeingkingston@gmail.com or call 613-583-0830 if you have any issues with access to the building.

Bell Minders' Corner

Forest Bathing

Many of us have been basking in the beauty of our planet while camping, hiking and other summer activities. Our Bell Minder Anne Coward shared a favourite poem on June 23rd which beautifully captures the experience of stopping and looking deeply in nature. Click here for the poem.

August 27th

Day of Mindfulness

Sunday, August 27th, Interbeing Sangha is planning an outdoor Summer Day of Mindfulness including walking meditation, eating mindfully together, and a session of Mindful Movement, at historic Bonniespring Farm on Middle Road (with car pooling from KUF). More details will follow our sangha care meeting.
True Peace

"Peace is not simply the absence of violence; it is the cultivation of understanding, insight, and compassion, combined with action. Peace is the practice of mindfulness, the practice of being aware of our thoughts, our actions, and the consequences of our actions. Mindfulness is at once simple and profound. When we are mindful and cultivate compassion in our daily lives, we diminish violence each day. We have a positive effect on our family, friends, and society."

--Thich Nhat Hanh, from
Creating True Peace, 2004
Our sangha has two teams helping to share leadership and facilitation of our meetings. Our Bell Minders Team are mindful facilitators for our weekly gatherings, as well as retreats, taking beautiful care of our friends in the practice including the bell. Our Sangha Care Team facilitates sangha care meetings, plans retreats, minds our library and resources, and coordinates outreach. If you are interested in helping with either or both, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com for more information.
