What you need to know about the New 19 migration to SWAN

Sister Library Meetup at
SWANstravaganza 2017

Have you registered for the second annual SWANstravaganza yet? Did you know we have a special meeting arranged for Sister Libraries? Did you know it’ll be a terrific opportunity to meet your Sister Librarians and Staff and that we’ll have a discussion about training related to the migration (and beyond)? Did you know there’ll be not one, but two, giant swans in attendance?

Anyway, I can’t emphasize enough how much work has gone into creating a relevant and inclusive user event for current and future SWAN libraries. The theme is Know Your Rights and we have over 30 sessions scheduled, including presentations on BLUEcloud Analytics, IMRF benefits overview, a cryptoparty that will emphasize data security for you and your patrons, change management, and an EBSCO Discovery Service/Article Search presentation. We’ll be kicking things off with a keynote address by George Christian, Executive Director of Library Connection, Inc. Due to a federally mandated gag order, mum’s the word, but it’ll be a great talk that addresses patron privacy and how to stand up to the man. I’ve already said too much…!

The event will take place at Moraine Valley Community College on August 11th. Check-in begins at 8:30am and the last session will wrap at 4:30pm. The cost is $28, which includes breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. There will be some additional fun, but again, gag order.

Register now at: https://sx17.eventbrite.com.

We’d really love to see a representative from each of the New 19. If you’d like to attend but can’t attend the entire day, you’re certainly welcome to join us specifically for the Sister Library Meetup session, from 1:00–1:45pm. If you’d like more information or have any questions about the SWANstravaganza, you can contact Susan Ricker via email: susan@swanlibraries.net.

And finally, if you have an in-service day coming up and would like to include a visit from SWAN, let us know!
