August 2017 Newsletter
Good Morning, Friends!                                                                July 27, 2017
What a privilege to wake up as God's children and not be burdened down with the cares of sin!
God keeps giving us opportunities to shine for Him and be a salt of the earth.  Just this week, Misael again spent time with several of the Home boys on a one-to-one basis.  We wonder how some of them can be so slow to seek God when the blessings of living for Him are so abundant?  Misael told one of them that he is not satisfied to see him go to hell - he will keep interceding as long as he lives.  They listened well, but only a personal commitment will do their souls any good!  Sometimes we think there is progress and other times we know the only thing we can do is pray.  Will you join us in interceding for these souls?  Satan has destroyed their parents and he would love to see them there as well.
Yesterday, our son, Glenn, spent some time talking to his high school coordinator after school.  This year he has had an opportunity to shine in a school of 1500 students where, up to now, he's not yet found another Christian student.  The coordinator really affirmed him.  Although he is not a Christian, he told Glenn that Satan will try to discourage you, but NEVER let him make you lose your faith!  You have something of excellent value that makes you stand out above everyone else.  Glenn's not had an easy journey at school this year, yet the privilege of shining for Jesus gives him a lot of joy and strengthens his faith.
We appreciate being in a small church, where the youth studying need to be active and not only present.  We often pray that our youth will be faithful - life here on earth is too short to miss eternity!
Kevin, 16, left last week for the States in preparation of a surgery August 2 to lengthen his short leg.  Originally, they had told us it may take several years for the process, but after his initial appointment, they said they anticipate 50 days.  They will be putting 3 pins in and little by little stretching the leg.  On Oct. 3, they hope to have a surgery to remove the one deformed bone in his arm.  Both surgeries, as well as the plane ticket, are donated.  We as a church will be gathering for a time of prayer for him on Wed. forenoon, Aug. 2 - the day of the surgery.  Will you join in praying for him now and throughout recovery?!  It's a very painful process, but with the day-to-day pain he's been experiencing recently, he's willing to look out into the future, for the benefits of the surgery that Lord Willing, help him support his family.
We miss him a lot at the Home, the church, and the youth!  His testimony is such a blessing to all of us!  Let's pray for his protection!  (Above photo:  Our boys with Kevin one last Sunday afternoon - left to right: Aaron, Stephen, Kevin, Joshua, Glenn)
Adely, mother of the Home, went along as a support and expects to return Aug. 18.  We greatly appreciate that one of our former workers is willing to care for Kevin during this time!
Moises, almost 4, of the Home, has mastered crawling but is still struggling to walk and talk.  He's been given leg braces as an effort to strengthen his legs so that Lord Willing, someday he can walk,  He finds them challenging, but after only 2 weeks or so, he's already able to stand by himself.  (Photo)
We continue longing for a dedicated Christian fellow to take the challenge of mentoring adolescents...  If God is calling you or you'd like to recommend someone, you can reach us at: misael.torrefuerte@gmail.com or phone # 011- 503- 2232-3435.  We ask that our workers are at least 21 and not dating, but driving not required.
God blessed my week long trip to the States far beyond expected!  We were in good health and had many good times with family.  It was especially special to get some extra time with Dad and Mom!  It had been 11 years since I had been to a Miller family reunion.  There were only 5 or so cousins missing!  The Welcome Home here was just as great as the time with family there! :)
In closing, I want to challenge you with the challenge Misael gave us at church on Sunday...  In the light of tragedy (widowhood), Orpha became indifferent and said it didn't matter - she stayed home and was out of the scene.  Naomi thought only of herself and started putting circles around herself, creating so much bitterness that she even wanted to change her name to one that meant bitter.  On the contrary, Ruth chose to look out, away from herself, to the needs of Naomi and chose to treat her as her husband would have wanted her to.  It is certain that in her bitterness, Naomi wasn't always kind to Ruth, yet Ruth chose to travel with her, work for their food, care for her...  It helped her rise above her circumstances - what a blessing, for it was in God's plan for her to be the great-grandmother of David...
May each of us look up and out and fulfill the calling for which God created us for!
THANK YOU so very much for your interest in the Home and your willingness to invest in praying for us!  May God bless you and yours!
We are hoping to soon start making contacts for a western PR trip the end of this year.  If any one of you are interested, we'd be grateful to hear from you soon!  (Same contact as listed above for workers' needs.)
                                                                Many blessings,
                                                                Misael, Regina, and family
