Bush Craft


Friday 4 August

Drop in and learn bush craft skills including shelter building, fire making and whittling. £3 per child.

Barns, Walls & Bridges


Sunday 6 and 27 August

Join our experienced Dales Volunteers on this moderate 4 mile (6.7km) guided walk. We’ll see an old packhorse bridge and walk on part of the route used by Lady Anne Clifford as she travelled from Skipton to Penrith 450 years ago to inspect her castles. Booking Advised Adult £5.00, Under16s FREE.
 

Drystone Walling Demonstration


Tuesday 8,15,22 and 30 August

Join our Dales Volunteers as they showcase the traditional craft of drystone walling - one of the most iconic features of the National Park landscape.

Hawes Town Trail

Join our Dales Volunteers on this 2 mile guided walk exploring Gayle and Hawes. Free - donations welcome.
 
 

Seeing Red


Wednesday 9 August

Come and hear about red squirrel conservation work and find out the best places to spot squirrels in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
 

Flying High - Kite Making


Friday 11 August

11:00 - 12:00 and 14:00 - 15:00
Let's go fly a kite and make it as well. Join our morning or afternoon workshop. £3 per child.
 

What does a ranger do?

Meet a Yorkshire Dales National Park Ranger for an illustrated talk about what the ranger service does to keep the Yorkshire Dales a special place.
 

Painting with Felt

Let's get creative with felt. Drop in and make your own artwork. £3 per child

Discover Aisgill Force


Sunday 20 August

Join our Dales Volunteers on a 4 mile guided walk to Aisgill waterfall near Gayle. Booking advised. Adult £5, Child Free.

Traditional Knitting Demonstration


Sunday 20 August

14:00 - 16:00
Join Dales knitting expert Kate Trusson for a demonstration with 4 needles and knitting sticks using traditional patterns.
 

Nature Printing

 
Friday 25 August

10:30 - 16:00
Drop in and have a go at mono printing using natural materials with artist Margaret Murphy. £3 per child.
 
 

In the Kitchen - Preserves


Friday 25 August

11:00 - 15:00
Join us in our traditional farmhouse kitchen where Mrs H explains the methods of preserving foods.
 

Traditional Rugmaking Demonstration

 
Sunday 27 August

10:30 - 16:00
Join local rugmakers Jane Cook and Elaine Foster as they demonstrate making proddy and hooked rugs. Have a go or buy a rug or kit to take home.
