Topic Description: Educational institutions hold unique challenges relating to records management. Not only must the Archives provide records services to the university, they must also preserve the institution’s historical records. Yet, they are also presented with the same obstacles we have also experienced, that is, working with a hybrid of record formats, maintaining historical records, and providing accessibility to those records.

Biography – Hillary Gatlin
Hillary Gatlin is currently the University Records Manager at Michigan State University. She earned her Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010 and her Bachelors of Arts in Historic Preservation from the University of Mary Washington in 2009. Hillary is a member of the SAA Records Management Section Steering Committee and has presented at various forums, including the Archives*Records 2016 conference. Hillary was a program committee member for the 2015 Michigan Archival Association Conference. She is currently the Vice President of the Mid-Michigan ARMA Chapter and an active member of ARMA International.
