Registration begins at 8:00 am with a hot breakfast served from 8:00 am to 8:30 am. The morning's format will be three sessions:

Data Archiving and Litigation Holds - 8:30 am - 9:30 am
Presenter: Josh McIntyre, Lane & Waterman 
Summary: The presentation will cover data archiving, including the types of data, the laws that govern how long to keep and store the various types, and litigation holds.


Cybersecurity Issues, Mitigation Strategies, and Combating Malicious Threats - 9:45 am - 10:45 am
Presenter: Jonathan Dreasler, RSM
Summary: Learn how to mitigate the impact of data breaches for your organization. RSM technology professionals will discuss preventative policies, procedures and controls as well as best practices strategies related to cybersecurity.

Now What? Planning Your Response When a Breach Occurs - 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
Presenter: April Price, Lane & Waterman
Summary: April will discuss how to form a response plan and response team when a breach occurs, how to notify stakeholders, the costs involved, and how to identify and contract remediation services.  
About the Speakers

Joshua McIntyre joined Lane & Waterman in 2012 and practices primarily in the areas of intellectual property, information technology, and professional malpractice, including matters concerning computer fraud, data privacy and retention practices, domain names, trademarks, and trade secrets. Josh writes regularly on information technology law.  His work appears in the Iowa Defense Counsel Association’s Defense Update newsletter and the DePaul Law Review.  He has been cited in numerous scholarly works on data privacy, including Privacy and Data Protection in Business and The Oxford Handbook of Internet Studies. He recently completed a term of service for the Sedona Conference’s Working Group 11, whose work will help advise lawyers of the best practices for maintaining data security.

Jonathan Dreasler has six years of hands-on experience in the risk management field and holds a specialized computer sciences degree that focuses on computer investigations. He specializes in IT security, privacy and risk, with expertise focused primarily on the security and privacy of IT systems and data. Jonathan’s client work spans several industries, including government contractors, financial institutions, health care, insurance, technology manufacturing and gaming.

April Price joined Lane & Waterman in 2007 and is a registered patent attorney, practicing in all phases of intellectual property law including the preparation, prosecution and enforcement of patents, trademarks, and copyrights.  April also handles technology related transactions including negotiating, drafting, and enforcing software, cloud computing, and ecommerce agreements.  Additionally, April works closely with in-house counsel on media law and 1st Amendment issues. April is a former chair and current council member of the Intellectual Property Section of the Iowa State Bar Association and is Secretary of the Iowa Intellectual Property Law Association.
