Forest Girls 7s

Last Saturday was the start of Wave 3 of the Girls Rugby 7s.  Between our three age groups we had 7 games to play. At the end the girls were undefeated with 6 wins and 1 draw !

Notable call out was being one of Mosman Rugby's first opposition for their first ever girls team.  A position we were in 3 years ago

This week we are playing a special exhibition game at Chatswood oval prior to a Shute Shield game followed by our normal games where we will travel to Hassell Park on Saturday evening.

As always, any new girls aged 11 and up wanting to have a go, please don't hesitate to come up to training on a Monday night at Melwood from 6pm

We are always welcoming of any new players so if you know of a girl that wants to have a go a try it out.  Get them to contact David McAndrew (club director of girls rugby) by email david.mcandrew@nielsen.com and we can give you details.

FOREST RUGBY CHARITY SLEEP OUT

On the 5th August 2017 is the Club's annual Charity Day which will be celebrated at the Seniors home game against UNSW.

What you may not know however is that the Charity Day concept is something that involves the entire Club and something all of us should be very proud off.  After generating over an amazing $17,000 for youth mental health programs in the Northern Beaches last year, this year the Committee has selected two fantastic organisations to support with the money we raise to go directly to local programs to support victims of domestic violence and homelessness in addition to providing employment opportunities for people with a disability.

On the night before, Friday 4th August, the club is holding the first ever Forest Charity Sleep Out and this is where we would be thrilled to see involvement form the Junior rugby community.  Each person brave enough to brace the cold and hardship of sleeping out on Melwood Oval for the night is hoping to generate sponsorship which will go towards the amounts provided to the charities.

It would be wonderful if we could see a group of Forest Junior Dads or Mums brave enough to be part of this and help us reach our fundraising target.  As such, we also wanted do let you know that children from the age of 15 are also more than welcome to do the Sleep Out as well if they have an accompanying parent and can collectively strive to achieve sponsorship. (nominal target of $250 but not compulsory)

What a fantastic bonding experience with your child and furthermore an amazing opportunity for your child to appreciate more about these social issues and the importance of doing your bit to contribute to help the lives of those less fortunate.

So please, have a look at the information below and please register to be part of it.  We are sure you will find the experience uplifting and well worthwhile.

If you have any issues registering please contact Mark Driessen (mcd4433@gmail.com) or 0413 444 674

We are all part of one club, so lets show some Forest Junior Rugby pride and get on board.

Forest Rugby Charity Day 5th August 2017

Forest Rugby working with the community to make a difference!

Forest Rugby Club is proud and excited to announce its 2017 charity partners – The Manly Community Centre (MCC) and Bushlink – a part of Northside Enterprise Inc. Charity Day will be celebrated on 5 August 2017 at our home game at Melwood Oval against University of NSW.

In addition to JAC Electrical, as the charity day gold sponsor, and Packsize Pty Ltd, as the charity day silver sponsor, we hope everyone in the Forest Rugby community will join us to help raise funds and awareness for some very worthy causes.

Whilst no doubt Rugby is a key focus of the Club, the Committee is passionate about its role and responsibility to contribute more broadly to our community and society in general. As such, we have partnered with the MCC to make a difference in two very important areas of domestic violence and homelessness. Funds raised will go directly to supporting these specific areas of MCC’s strategic focus within our local community.

Bushlink, is dedicated to creating real and valued employment for people with disability. We are privileged to partner with such an amazing organisation and help to directly improve life outcomes for people with disability in our community.

60 Year Anniversary
Forest Rugby Football Club - Help Needed

In 2018 our club will celebrate 60 years of existence starting from small beginnings of a single junior team to the true grass roots rugby club we know today covering boys and girls from the age of 6 to 60 (an perhaps more).

We are looking for volunteers to form a special sub committee to organize special events in 2018 to ensure reaching such a milestone is marked in the appropriate way.  Of particular focus would be the 60 year ball to be held sometime next year.

We are looking for a wide spread representation on this committee covering both current and former players, Mums and Dads of players as well as supporters of the club.  Seniors, juniors, minis, girls 7s, Golden Oldies, we are after all part of this one club so the committee should represent that.

If you would like to join this committee and contribute to making the 2018 celebrations one to remember, please email David "Ealsie" McAndrew through david.mcandrew@nielsen.com.  Even if you just have some questions on what is involved, fire an email and we will do our best to answer you

We would like to settle on the 60 year organizing team by the 4th of August so we can start getting the wheels in motion...
