JULY 2017

This month my playwright pal Bixby Elliot and I launched Theater Husband / Theater Wife Project and we couldn't be more excited about it. I hope you'll take a peek at our brand new website and see what we're all about! For our first big project together, we're re-inventing dinner theater this August and presenting two plays in rep at Jimmys No. 43 in The Back Room: my BIBLE ADVENTURE PARK! and Bixby's IF ON A WINTER'S NIGHT...

For a super sweet deal, audiences dine on delicious food and drink then move to The Back Room at Jimmys No. 43  to see one of the shows (on special Double Header nights you can see BOTH plays).

IF ON A WINTER'S NIGHT...
written by Bixby Elliot
directed by Julie Kramer
featuring Kaaren Brisco, Zach Fifer, Charlie O'Leary and Lori Vega a quest for a play brings two unlikely strangers together in this piece about love and theater!

I'm diving into rehearsals this upcoming week with director Robert Ross Parker for THE SPOTTED GENTLEMAN at the 42nd Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Short Play Festival! Check out this cast we have lined up to work with us: Julie Ann Earls, Benjamin Manno, Thomas Muccioli and Gianmarco Soresi.

Our performance is Thursday August 10th, 8:30pm at Classic Stage Company in NYC. Should we be chosen to advance in the festival, we'll have another performance on Saturday August 12th, then the judges will choose 6 plays to be published by Sam French in their annual anthology.

Happily, I'm heading into the woods with InViolet Theater for a few days this month for our annual company retreat. I'm looking forward to workshopping my play STUNNING DISPLAYS OF PROWESS (which I affectionally call my "Tony Robbins Play") with some great friends and collaborators.

Audiobook month was a blast! It led to many cool opportunities to connect with authors and listeners in a new way and I got to be involved in a bunch of fun interviews and podcasts. Click on the links below to access a few of them!

It's been (and continues to be!) a juuuuuuuicy summer in the recording booth. I've been lucky to narrate some terrific stories by writers I adore, so stay tuned for lots of new audiobook releases in early Fall from great authors like: Molly McAdams, Kristen Ashley, Nikki Sloane, M. Never, Jo Raven, Terri E. Laine, A.M. Hargrove, Susan Stoker, JB Salsbury, K.A. Linde and Rae Carson!

Each month I like to give a recommendation for an artist or project that I love. This month's shout out is for Clutch ProductionsBULLET CATCHERS.

A "bullet catcher is Army slang for an infantryman. They live and die on the
frontline and carry this nickname like a badge of honor. It's a sacrifice that few are willing to make. The honorable men who volunteer for this service don't take it lightly.

Neither do the women. Set in the not too distant future, Bullet Catchers follows the first official mixed gender infantry unit in the U.S. Army, from training to deployment. In the throes of war, they must face what it means to be a soldier, a unit, a part of history. Told in part through dance, music and poetry, Bullet Catchers is a new collaborative written play based on interviews with current service members and veterans.

As always, I'll leave you with some brand new audiobook releases: THE GRAVITY OF US, a really beautiful romance by the wonderful Brittany C. Cherry (co-narrated by Brian Pallino) and THE SEVEN IMPERFECT RULES OF ELVIRA CARR, an impressive first novel from Frances Maynard which explores the life and mind of a young woman with Aspergers Syndrome.
