ACT4LITTER NEWSFLASH #1
ACT4LITTER in full swing – Combating marine litter in Mediterranean MPAs
Just few months after the ACT4LITTER kick-off (February 2017) and all project activities are in full swing! The Interreg Med ACT4LITTER project aims at facilitating efforts for tackling marine litter in Mediterranean MPAs. The 18-month project will strengthen networking of MPAs in defining a common framework of measures to combat marine litter; improve the management of Mediterranean MPAs through the definition of MPA-specific action plans; and enhance the implementation of the relevant policy frameworks.
ACT4LITTER’s close collaboration with MPA managers and marine litter experts
ACT4LITTER is implemented in close collaboration with MPA managers and marine litter experts from twenty two associated MPA partners. Preparations are underway for the first meeting of the associated partners that is to be held in Barcelona on the 2nd and 3rd of October 2017. They will review and discuss the initial list of marine litter measures that have already been mapped, as well as the methodological approach for developing the decision-making tool that will be piloted in at least 10 selected Mediterranean MPAs.
Upcoming ACT4LITTER conference
ACT4LITTER progress will be communicated to a wider audience in the first ACT4LITTER conference organized in Izola (Slovenia) on the 28th of November 2017 where the involvement of stakeholders will strengthen the delivery of well-targeted, effective and applicable solutions to tackle marine litter in MPAs.
ACT4LITTER joins the Interreg MED webinar on marine litter
ACT4LITTER joined the webinar on Marine Litter organized on 17 July 2017 by PANACeA with the aim to foster the development of partnerships, knowledge exchange and a better coordination of activities among Interreg Med projects dealing with marine litter in the Mediterranean.
ACT4LITTER is an Interreg Med project
co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund
